Couple things: tag ur it, did it help your problem? I see that it help one other member. My noise was almost completely gone until I tightened the nut pedders told me to (I'm not mad at Cha!, I just know now I need to focus on this area) made it worse than it originally was! Now I can hear it above my radio sometimes :(

I looked at the pad on the top of my strut and it's orange, not tan or black. Wassup with that? I'm going to try to take the strut partially apart and make sure there is no metal to metal contact or anything not set right. Im also going to completely remove the front sway bar to eliminate that as a suspect. Good thing is I can drive a block away to make it rattle. This is annoying me! I thought I had it fixed and now I made it worse. I'm about to go loosen this nut a tad to see what it does in the morning. Don't worry, I have a cordless 3/4" drive impact I'll throw in the trunk just incase.

orange is likely tan that has turned a color at the edge.

Laugh if you must! I know I did when I saw that rubber washer in the toilet section, but when it fit like it was made for it and dampened the rattle.....I wasn't laughing anymore! Toilet mod....lol.

Guys that did it, tell everyone how it fit like it was made for it.

That's what I was thinking, but I have 2000 miles on it and barely 2 mos old. Probably right

it turns color in the manufacturing process, the edges look burned and it appears orangish.

Well the gap was there when I bought the car. I'm pretty sure it's normal. Not acceptable to me tho. I think it's a halfass design.

My noise actually disappeared before I ever got to install them. Becky sent me some new spring mounts (the ones that Pete posted up) but I have yet to install them. My noise just went away a week before I got them. The only reason I did the "toilet mod" is because (that's kinda funny right there...lol) is because I wanted to close that open gap to prevent dirt, debris, and crap from getting int here. Plus, it just looked better.

Hell yeah it fit....like a glove! I swear....it looks like it was made exactly FOR this. And the pliability of the rubber is perfect. It'll flex too so it won't mess anything up when the upper strut assembly moves.

I don't think there should be a gap either.

Hey...you found a PERFECT solution...and quite frankly, I think it looks cool AND is going to be helpful in the long run.

I'm glad I could help you! Thats what this forum is for right!

I couldn't believe how it fit either. Crazy thing is I didn't even measure none of it except the diameter of the plate. I just grabbed a few different rubber things and it fit like gm made it to go there. Since tightening the top nuts my noise has returned and loosening them seemed to have no effect as I noticed on the drive to work this morning. I have a few things ima try. I might have to use the chassis ears at work. I'm gonna see if I can bring it home this weekend. Stay tuned
