Please post pics of the front if possible. I was going to cal Macs and would like to see how you did this. Also, are you using the 40" wheels straps? Thank you |

Over the tire is secure, but frame mount is the safest during emergency maneuvers. It limits weight shift much more than over the tire. Same reason that race vehicles use firmer engine mounts etc.
Hopefully you never have to swerve with that much weight on a trailer, but something to keep in mind. |

I just went on a winding 4 hour trip with many curves and I must say it was a very pleasant and uneventful trip. I was using a half ton, 6.2 truck and a 20’ steal, tilt deck trailer. There was no weird swaying with the trailer. No odd shifting with the car’s suspension being free. I pulled over 3 times to check my over the tire straps and the tension loss was very slight the first time and none there after. I’m impressed with this setup. For the first time in my life I didn’t have to crawl under the car to tie it off. Upon getting to the shop I noticed another guy dropping off a C7 Z06 with Mac’s through the tire straps and they rubbed the hell out of the side of his splitter. I was so glad I didn’t go there because I almost chose that path. I mounted my e-track rails 63” on center to match GM’s track measurement and they are dead center of my wheels. I used #14 self tappers on every other hole in the e-track and then pulled every other self tapper out and replaced with a 1/4” bolt with nyloc nut underneath. Washers on both sides. I may change out a few more of the self tappers in time but everything worked well just as I did it

Nicely done! (I too spent quite a bit of time making sure that those tracks would go dead center on the tires). So far I've been extremely happy with this whole setup. But you did a nice clean job there. (I need to find a set of end-caps for my US Cargo tracks)

I do want to put a winch on it to make it easier to load the car. Edit: Nevermind just saw that you had a 3182. The wider deck on that would be nice but I liked the additional bracing of the 3110 (more cross beams under the deck).

Aluma Trailer
Extremely happy with my Aluma Trailer and got a fantastic used price! I may look into the E-Track option but really concerned about rubbing of the tire on the track while towing? All the new ZL1 1LE's where tied down with over the wheel straps. This loaded trailer was at our hotel the morning we came out to head home from just outside Chicago. Lots of money going down the road there!

There are no sharp edges on the E-track and the over the tire straps have rubber blocks that set down in the groves of the tire tread. Once the strap is ratcheted tight, the blocks are clenching the tire in 3 different spots and while the tire is being pulled down tight against the rails. With all 4 wheels pulled tight I can’t see how the tire could move at all.
