So bear with me while i ask a really stupid question. If we can see production models today, why does it take an additional 6 months for production to begin? I suppose a Canadian joke would be inappropiate

We are seeing production-ready models not production models. Basically, these were the end result of all the trial and error engineering. They've got the design done and they know how many of each nut, bolt, and clip they need to build a single car. Now the suppliers need to ramp up their own production so that GM has enough of the individual parts to build 80-100k Camaros/year. Suppliers can't do their job until GM is done figuring out what the final product should look like.

That's just my thoughts on why it will take another 6 months to actually start true production.

because those are mules that had production parts hand assembled onto it, at a cost of about $250k each.

Oshawa is not ready. That's the real holdup in the end. They had to gut the building and do a full install for the new line. It was an active line until they day they shut it down to begin the coversion. Lots and lost of expensive and time consuming work.

HOLY SHIT! I'm loving the sound of the SS, BUT DAMN! That V6 sounds FANTASTIC! I definetly gotta test both the V6 and V8 before buying my Camaro. Great stuff!
