Been out to 1800 yards with this one using the .408 Chey tac barrel. Only been to 1500 with the .50 barrel

Usually stick to 1000 yards with this one.

archtaan, what do you think of that Surefire 60rd'er? Been thinking about getting one for the duty rifle, and use my 30's as backup. But for the price, I can grab a bunch of PMags, lol. So I wanted to ask someone who has one, and not just go off manufacturer ads, lol.

It has been a 100% reliable mag that I havent been able to outrun. On full auto guns it keeps up great, no double feeds or nosediving rounds in the mag. Welds are all strong and clean. The downside is its too expensive if you ask me, about the same price as 9 or 10 pmags. (I get em at 50% retail though) The 60rounder does fit in a standard mag pouch as well. Not sure about the 100rounder, I am not going to get any of those.

50% retail isn't bad, cheapest I've seen them is $120. Which, like you say, is far too expensive, when PMags, greatest thing since sliced bread, are $14 a pop. I'd pay $40 for that Surefire 60rd'er, if they are as reliable as you say, and never think twice. But $120? That's 9 PMags, lol.

Well... With the biggest robbery season of the year here and my new job requiring me to be gone for a few weeks I went and got my GF a pistol she could handle in case the worst should happen. Got her a SIG P250 9MM with hollow point critical defense rounds to fill the 15 round clip. I'll go tomorrow to get a laser sight so it's just point and shoot. Y'all think it'll do the trick?

Plenty. The barrel gun / magnum camp may chime in on this and start talking about power, etc. -- but IMO you just can't beat having 15 rounds for defense against another person just in case you need them and any woman *(no offense) can handle a 9mm.

Follow up shots are more desireable than trying for a .45 ACP hail Mary.
Have you thought about her trying a Judge?
They are coming out with .410 defence rounds that look pretty nasty.

That was my thought on the smaller caliber. I have a few larger guns and while she can fire my 45 shes agffraid of it. I figure with the 9MM she can pull the trigger till she runs out of bullets. My feelings on home safety are if someone enters uninvited they shouldn't leave unless it's in a bag.

I've got a tarus judge. She shot it once and it nearly kicked her in the forehead. My GF is little. She weighs all of 115-120 soaking wet in jeans. Lol

Sounds like a good setup to me, but is she morally comfortable with the thought of possibly taking somebody's life? Sure, we can all be like, "ya, if they mess with me I'll give em the what-for", but in reality she may freeze up due to fear or anxiety. There have been a few cases of burglars getting a nice handgun because they stole it from somebody paralyzed by fear. Take her to the range, get her comfortable with the gun, and maybe even try some indoor dry fire techniques for a "what if" situation. Remember, the military doesn't train recruits fighting techniques just for the hell of it.

Hope this helps!

Oh, and another thing, those trips to the range and the dry fire techniques will also help with the %25 or more loss of accuracy during an actual break in due to adrenaline and anxiety. It won't totally diminish that factor unless she's a battle hardened person, but it will help.

He told me that was the best damn answer he ever heard.

She will not be told of just how lethal this gun is. To her it will be described a proction round. I don't need her being afraid of what is going to happen to the criminal. Also we'll be goin to the deer lease this week end. I figure a few boxes of target practice and cyote hunting will get her comfortable with the weapon. And ya I may work with her on some drills so she's prepared. Good idea

It would be better if only one story leaves that room.
I wish we had CCW up here. Things are changing, but slowly.
