2010 Equinox transmission problems

Transmission has been slipping a while now with no engine light. Dealer told me to simply keep an eye on it.

Today my wife was driving and it would get stuck in second gear and the manual mode wouldn't work at all. Engine light is now on.

Is anyone familiar with this?

We're at 40,000 miles. Going to take it to the dealer tomorrow hopefully if I have time before work.

We had zero problems until the past few months we would notice little tweaks, especially in cruise control.

Now today all this happened.

Hoping it's something easy too diagnose.

My parents have a 2010 Equinox as well and are having lots of problems with it. For some reason it randomly shuts off when you come to a complete stop. It fires right up afterwards though. They've been dealing with it from day 1, actually a couple of days after they picked it up, but the dealership has not gotten to the source of the problem. Think they may have a lemon in their hands, but they're still hoping they get it resolved. Good luck with yours.

Just got the call back. It was a bad solenoid. We pick it up tomorrow. Covered under power train warranty.

Our 2011 had a hard sifting issue, but that was resolved with an ECU update. Our problems were mostly engine related with the VVT. Went four times for that problem. It's (hopefully) fixed for good now.

My best friend has a 2011 Nox. Never had any issues other than some odd behavior when placed in "Eco mode". They just keep that turned off and haven't had any issues since. Mileage isn't much different either.

Ours sounded like someone was hitting the engine with a hammer when it was first started for a few seconds. Then it started dying when coming to a stop. Then the shifting issues. But now it runs great. The eco mode does give better mpg in hers though it has no power when its on.

Glad you got yours fixed dabears, ours has 72000 miles on it now. Even with all the problems we had she wants another one.

HOPEFULLY its fixed. I still have to pick it up tomorrow and confirm that its fixed. I fear a reoccurring problem. Hopefully I'm just paranoid.

Well. The Equinox is at the dealer until at least Tuesday with a screwed up transmission. Just lovely. Thank god for warranties.
But really GM? 3 years old and only 41,000 miles on it and the tranny goes?

I thought GM evolved beyond this, apparently not.
