And yes i almost bought the 1SS. But the 2LT i bought for 29K had more options and was cpl k cheaper to boot. The 90 miles round trip daily as well as the, hopefully, upcoming Z28 helped me decide on this one until i can upgrade and pass this one to my son when he starts driving in late 2012.

[QUOTE]I don’t think that with the current state of tune on the V-6 that there is a lot of horsepower “hiding” in the engine, like engines in years past.[/QUOTE
Well, the engineers can do more for example a 6 yr old Porsche GT3 with a 3.6 liter 6 cylinder makes 380 hp... a ferrari 355 with 3.5 liters made 375 HP in 1995. Yes, I know these are fine car companies but so are the engineers at GM - so let's see it guys! |

it's pretty well known the LLT or 3.6 is fairly muched tweaked out from the factory, aftermarket tuners aren't getting much gains over the stock tune with stock parts. They are seeing improvements on the automatic programming....so those with the auto can see some benefits, but not many folk want to pay the money for a tune just for the trans. If a person were to do the standard CAI and headers back aftermarket exhaust with the high flow cats, I would guess a tuner could fine tune the car enough that it could see the benefit of a rewrite, probably even a CAI and cat back exhaust could see some gain from a tune.
then you got the folks who are doing ported heads/intake manifold and t/b ontop of the CAI and headers back that fear if they run it like that on a stock tune, the engine is going to lean out so bad it'll die, and are hoping bigtime that the tune will not only get more power from the total package, but will keep it from destroying itself

Definitely proud to be a V6 owner, and sure some mods are worth the gain, but most are so we can drink a few in our garages with our buddies... honestly I just like working on it!
And I hate the phrase "just a V6". If it is "just" anything, it is "just" amazing!

When I decided to go with the 2011 v6 camaro instead of the 2011 v6 mustang I really didnt know what I was getting myself into. Limited ecu tuning option was the last thing I expected with the v6 camaro. When your archrival mustang v6 can find up to 30 wheel hp on a stock car with just tuning, than naturally we look for the same to level out the playing field, but for us it look like it will be the same case as the 3.6 caddys Still love my camaro tho.. at least for now |
