Tuner

Either a hand held tuner of custom tune.

You are capped at 118 because of the tires that come on the 18 inch wheels. They are not designed or rated to go above 118, and doing so could cause total failure.

You have a LS, like me, and the car is set to not go over 118 because of the Tires.

sounds like tires and a tune are in order, i wish i could afford a tune for my truck, my tires are rated for 150 mph, but it's limited at 100 (technically 98 according to GM, but my GPS with 6-7 satellites triangulating on my truck said 103) with a tuner i could get up to about 130 or so before the speedometer pegs out and breaks (saw it happen to another guy's truck)

You clearly have the Pirelli tires as a result of the RS package. You can go much faster than 130 without hitting the governor. Those with all-season tires have a much lower cap.

The 2LT comes with either 19 or 20 inch wheels. Neither one is the 18 inch wheel we were talking about.

To spell it out:

LS - 118
1LT - 118
1LT/RS - 155
2LT - 155
2LT/RS - 155

My Integra GSR (bolt-ons no tune) didnt have a speed limiter, I've been 140+ in it and yes its a Honda, but my Camaro LS can get to 118 a little faster

I wouldnt tune it unless you get the tires to handle the speed.
i dont see myself going either unless a reliable turbo or s/c kit comes out.

Anybody know if the dealer will tune it assuming you get certified tires? Probably not, but just curious.

at least you didnt buy the 2011 Mustang V6 Premium @ 30k+ and find out that you have a 113mph limiter

So far it doesn't seem like dealers have the capability to adjust the governor.

I have put Pirelli's on my LS and gone to the dealer but they could not figure out how to adjust the governor.
