Help me decide on intake/exhaust
So after doing some research and looking around I am pretty confident I want one of the following options. Would love some input
Option 1 CAI Cold air intake (no scoop) solo exhaust (either axle back or mach xl catback) Option 2 Vararam intake solo exhaust (either axle back or mach xl catback) Option 3? Suggestions. I really want solo because i have heard nothing but good things about them in both the G8 and the Camaro community. Plus no drone and J pipes are nice. |

If you go with the CAI you really should consider the scoop. But you know how I voted.

Option 3
Halltech YellowJacket, Same HP as CAI but a little better Torque numbers. No opinion on exhaust as that is too personal and subject to your own taste. Good luck, T.

Vararam, x-pipe, exhaust your choice. I have a Magnaflow Comp. Axle-back.

I would go with the CAI (with scoop) option. I personally got the Borla ATAK catback and it sounds crazy. I enjoy the car being a monster with volume, but the nice thing is I can still feather the gas and not blow people's eardrums.
The CAI intake has a nice box that you can see through for the filter. Kinda dresses up the engine bay a bit IMO. As others have said, the exhaust is going to be based on what you can afford, and what you personally like. Everybody on here will tell you what they like, but it may not be what you like. |

ADM race intake with the scoop. The fit and finish is superb. I can't comment on the solo exhaust I never heard one in person.

What are your future plans
In modding my car, I learned an expensive lesson--Create a Plan before starting.
The first exhaust I purchased was an inexpensive Cherry Bomb Extreme which sounded wonderfully loud and aggressive and fit perfectly as an axle back kit, but with headers produced too much drone to endure, so then I traded for a Dynomax VT. The Dynomax VT was a great compromise between aggressive and loud at WOT and stock sound at partial throttle; however, then came the need to allow the new engine to breathe upon forging, boring, and stroking. At that point, I researched and purchased a Magnaflow 3" catback to allow for proper exhaust evacuation on the larger, supercharged powerplant. The Magnaflow is the best exhaust I have owned to date as well as the best sounding system that I have heard in person or on video. It is loud and aggressive outside the vehicle--very deep and rumbly and accentuates the lope of my cammed motor. Additionally, it fits like a charm. Best of all there is no drone to speak of and quiet enough in the cabin to carry on a conversation while cruising between 1500 and 2000 rpms. Moral of the story is if you are certain that you will not go crazy with the car later on any of the 2.5" exhaust systems you are looking at will probably make you happy, but if you think you will want to unleash the beast in the future, create a plan now and save yourself future replacement costs on your exhaust system. I hope you find the system that makes you as happy as my Magnaflow make me every time I fire her up
