problem buying used stall?

I am in the process of making my "tax return" plans. I was looking for a stall and came across a couple used ones in the classifieds.

Any insights on what to ask? look for? etc? would you buy used?

I would never buy a used converter. You never know what kind of mess it came off of and junk inside of one could wreck your transmission.

Besides, for all the work it takes to install one why would you want to cheap out with a part like that?

I have no problem buying certain used parts (headers, exhaust, intake,) but I never thought about buying a used converter until I saw the post. Wanted to just get opinions on it.

you dont know the condition of the trans it came out of or if its been abused, any debris inside the used converter is going to recirculate inside your trans.

now most aftermarket converter companies offer a cut and clean service on theirs, usually a couple or three hundred last I checked.
so if you buy a used yank for example and have them cut/clean it, somtimes the total even with shipping is less than a new one.

With shipping and all that I would be really close to buying a new one if I had them cut and clean it. So if I get a converter now it will be new.

Thanks guys

This. You don't want the risk of it passing a bunch of metal into your tranny.
