Centering the Steering wheel

I did a search but didn't find the answer, so...
to the peanut gallery it goes:
(sorry for the verbose details, but I'm trying to anticipate some questioning - 'WHY?')

An alignment was done and I set the Steering Wheel to the perceived center while the Tech adjusted the linkage.
Well... I didn't have time to road test. Predictably, the Steering wheel
is off ever so slightly. Had the time been available, I would have gone back to the shop to have it set to my liking...
The shop is 20 plus miles away and Saturday is my only off time and
I don't want to drive that far for a minor adjustment.

Theoretically I can make this minor adjustment (1/8 -1/4 turn of the screw) and by trial and error come to center.

Here's the question:

The steering wheel is canted slightly to the LEFT; After loosening the locking nuts, which direction do I turn the linkage bars to center the steering wheel?

Does the right side (pass.) come forward and the left side (driver)
go rearward? or vice versa?

I hope I explained this well enough.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I think that all of the steering wheels are probably canted to the left. Mine is on my 2010 1SS. I have learned to ignore it because the car tracks straight when I let go of the wheel.

I've straightened several of my car's steering wheels in my driveway.

The tie rod adjusting sleeve will need to be turned an equal amount on each side. To make sure the toe stays the same, I use a tape measure and measure between the two front tires. Center tread block to center tread block on each front tire. After adjusting the tie rods, that measurement needs to be the same. You can also compare that measurement on the front of the tires, to behind the tire to make sure the toe is set to zero.

The right way to do it is on an alignment rack, but the shadetree method with a tape measure will also work.

If your steering wheel is tilted to the left, your right front tie rod will need to be shortened and the left front lengthened. A very small amount at a time. Make sure to have the tread to tread measurement before starting the adjustments, that way if you mess up you can always return to the original tire to tire distance to make sure the toe stays at zero.

I straightened my steering wheel in a Honda by turning the wheel to the max and forcing the steering wheel that direction. It worked, yet very ghetto technique.

Yeah, done that for Motorcycles and Bicycles; wheel locked between the knees for the bicycle, curb for the MC.

I think Post #3 is the Winner! Grazie, grazie!

OMG..............

Mine is off center as well.

But as scared as the shop was to align it after I lowered it, I think I better just leave it alone.

slightly off center here as well. Have had it re-aligned several times.

I've never noticed this in mine..... Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'll be sure to curse you for ruining it for me when the weather improves enough to drive it......

you are going to throw your toe adjustment off slightly by doing this and tire wear may be an issue....

It took three seperate trips to the dealership for them to finally get the steering wheel straightened out from me having to hold it at eleven o'clock to keep the car straight. The last trip the car was brought to a different dealership (Herb Chambers in Danvers, MA) and they got it right. Big shout out to the service manager Ryan Livermore. He's a great guy to work with!

When I got my car aligned I did The same I put the steering in the center which I perceived but it was slight to the left or right. its very hard doing it by eye. you should go to a shop that has a tool that straps to the 10 n 3 position of the wheel and it can tell if it is straight. oh everyone should check there alignment cause out of box chevy was way off with my alignment which gave me poor gas mileage
