:/ Uhhhh

I've been reading everything on the ZL1 and looking at every picture/video that I can find. However, besides being in awe in in a bind. I have a 2011 2ss/rs now and seeing that the ZL1 is coming out, well now I want that and feel that if I don't have it..well then I'm jsut going to get shamed when I see one. Are they making a limited amount of them? Or will I be able to order one spring time?

You can order them starting tomorrow but the production will be 'limited' at first just because of meeting demand. Some dealers are charging a markup and price hasn't been released. Some dealers won't be able to order until the 2013 comes out next spring / summer. The car is NOT limited edition so if you are willing to wait you should be able to get one eventually. They don't start 2012 production until January so they won't be around until March at the earliest. 2013 production should start in the July timeframe.

OP why not mod your 2SS. 2 things will happen. 1) will bust the Z's ass 2) save some dough

If you're willing to spend around 60k for a Camaro then go for it. I'd rather have a Z06 for a little bit more but thats just me. I almost made the trade on a 2010 Grand Sport Vet with 1,900 miles last night but the Camaro is just bad ass

There are some pretty lengthy and in-depth discussions over in the ZL1 Forum that would beg to differ. The ZL1 is so much more than just a modded engine. By the time you got an SS to match the performance of the Z, you'd probably be at or well over the cost of the Z....and you still wouldn't have an engine designed with internal parts to take the performance you just gave it.

To each his own but dollar for dollar, I think I'd rather have a vehicle with a total package designed by engineers with components to compliment each other, that produces 7:41 times at the Nurburgring...straight out of the box from the factory. AND it will have a warranty.....just seems like the right way to go if that's what you're looking for.

Bhall I'd love to but I have to agree with 10forty2...It's just so much more in depth than some modding.

I cannot wait to see the new ZL1, however my SS is THE car I've always wanted. If I wanted to mod the suspension and motor to compete with the ZL1 I could. It does not bother me at all that the ZL1 will be able to outperform my SS. There will always be something out there that is faster. I am really looking forward to seeing the new ZL1, but it will not take anything away from my SS. I know I have a badass car even though it may not be the top dog. People get caught up in the OH, I gotta have that model now because it's better than mine. You lose your ass trading early even though everyone says they get a great deal. Yeah okay. Now, having said all that, if you want it, get it.

To me, the biggest factor is the warrantee. Mod an SS and any problems are your own. Buy a ZL1 and you get the warrantee.

Yeah, but the warranty will be gone in the first month for many of the ZL1 owners anyways. Mod bug is a bitch.

Because 1) not everyone wants to take the cheap way out and 2) because it would still be an SS! The zl1 is not only about the drag strip it's about handling. Oh and don't forget the legendary name.

Forget the ZL1. The 1LE concept may just be the new Z28 for less cost subtracting the supercharger.
