Rim edge protectors.

After 10 years of occasional abuse my rim edges need a redo. Also, one wheel has OEM paint coming off. As I’m sure you know having rims repaired ain’t cheap. Has anyone used the rubbery or plastics rim edging things. One, do they offer any protection and two are they just generally gross?
Thoughts?

I know, “learn to park you moron”

I've never seen those rim edge protectors. I see that you are in Los Angeles like me. If you end up getting them repaired call Danny at Action Wheel Repair. He does great work for a little less than normal. He fixed one of my rims that I cracked hitting a curb. He was able to straighten it out too. I'm considering getting mine repaired soon and I'll be taking it to him.

The rim protectors are advertised as cosmetic enhancements, not really rim protectors. They are simply a narrow strip of various colored rubber or vinyl with a slit that fits over the edge of the rim. They are for decoration. I was just hoping they might be thick enough to give a little protection.
Thanks for the headups on rim repair. I had a really good paint and body guy that would do them for $150 per. He was about ready to retire and used Covid as an excuse. The only guys I’ve talked to since that I have any faith in anyway, are $250 per.

For 1k, you can probably find a set of mint stock wheels.

Rim protectors

Be careful which ones you get. Mine looked good for 7 years then at highway speed decided to rip off. However, only half of it ripped off creating a loose end that span around and around. Spent 3 days buffing the side of the car from where it hit multiple times.

Thanks for the advice. I would never have thought of that . I have managed to keep my 2011 pristine (except the rims), don’t need a self made paint rash.
