I went and looked at my pictures and sure enough the cut off coax is there.

I actually have the extra coax with the connector still attached, but taped over. I'll post a pic of it tomorrow. Mine is an early (~8000) production car.

Just check a picture I had, do not have the extra coax, looks like the taped up cable is smaller also. (Only see two cables coming out of the harness)

As you approach the center the yellow dot will show up in the window. (NOTE: both the dot and the window move as the SIR coil is turned, and they actually line up in two other locations, but believe it is at 2 turns clockwise, and 2 turns counterclockwise from center, also the window is NOT in the lower right quadrant when this happens) Like I said previously, a new clockspring comes with a locking pulltab that keeps it centered till you ready to install. Wish I had taken a picture of the new SIR coil, so I could be sure which quadrant the window was in.

Joe

If you have the service manuals there is a description of the SIR window on page 13-112 (window is in the lower right quadrant of the SIR coil)
Per the service directions: Turn the lobe of the clock spring clockwise until the ribbon stops. Do not force. Turn the lobe of the clock spring counterclockwise approximately 3 turns to the Neutral position. Properly align until the centering window turns yellow. This indicates the CENTER position.

The centering window is at the 5 o'clock position with the airbag connectors pointed up (at 12 o'clock).

Is there a special way to test out the HUD ? I plugged the wire harness from Ofer in and everything lighted up normally, the control switch did lighted up but nothing is showing on the HUD screen after turning the switch on.

Any help is appreciated

Not understanding the "second spot" mean. I did run the engine while trying the testing.

update: Not sure this has anything to do with the new HUD Part#20936211

Guess the new first step is plug the harness into the hud and switch, and then inline with the center console gauges, and make sure it is working, before installing it. Didn't occur to me to include that step, probably because the day I had everything was out in the car seeing if it really worked!
