one more thing, upon review of this thread and subsequent pictures of the dash underbelly....
has anyone tried setting the hud in place and poking thru the dash to make
guides for Ofer's pattern. i for one want the trim bezed lined up perfect.
seems there is too much room for error going from the top..... no offence.

Take a look at post 1343. The pictures look like production HUD installation. I looked a car at a dealer and that is what it looks like. Also, I took some measurements and measured 9 inches from the left edge of the dash to the left edge of the HUD trim bezel. So, with the cut line suggested in post 1343, it should be close. Mine turned out good.
You could use these parameters and drill small holes well within the boundries and go out from those as needed. Good luck.

Yeah, when I cut mine, I lined up Ofer's template, put marks where the cutout goes, then made a small box inside and went from there.
I often placed the HUD into place, to see which sides I needed to cut out more.
When I was almost there, I'd install the bezel and the HUD and see how things looked, making sure it was parallel, and about 1/4" away from the ledge on the dash.
If it was a little too small, it'd bend the bezel a bit, so I'd know where to cut some more off.
Patience pays off.

I still don't have it all back together yet, work has picked up, so I only get a few minutes here and there, but its mostly done but the center console. I started it up tonight, turned the switch on, and was amazed by the beauty!

Thanks again to Ofer and everybody who helped make this possible!

I'd have it installed myself but I'm in the process of buying my first home and buying it months earlier then what I was planning so I need to save every penny for my down payment. But once we close in a few weeks, I plan on doing this. The dash is pretty useless to me, I can't really see it with my left hand/arm blocking the center of it and the wheel blocking the rest of it. Would be nice to have a HUD so I can see my speed without having to move my hand/arm.
