Skip shift eliminator fault or not

I installed an SLP skip shift eliminator correctly and followed instructions to a T and still the option for 4th gear comes in occasionally . Anyone else had this issue.

does it show up in the DIC or does it still force you to shift to 4th? When I had my skip shift eliminator, the message would still show up on the DIC, but I could still shift into 2nd gear.

It doesn't turn off the dash message, just prevents the forced 1-4 shift.

Thanks for the tips and feedback. But when it came on earlier I think it did try to force into 4th but not sure. However I don't always see even the message. After I installed it yesterday I drove the car even at 5mph from stop and it didn't request 4th gear that's why I thought it was ok.

CAGS is activated in the 2010-up Camaro SS when:
  • you are in first gear
  • you are using 21% throttle or less
  • you are traveling between 15 & 19 mph
  • and your engine coolant temperature is greater than 169°F (76°C)
When these parameters are met, CAGS kicks in and locks out 2nd and 3rd gear, forcing the driver to shift directly from 1st to 4th gear. For those extensively modifying their vehicle, CAGS can be “turned off” by a performance tuner. This eliminates the message and the dash and the lock out. Skip Shift Eliminators actually trick the computer into thinking it’s still in control but will not allow CAGS to activate and will not trigger trouble codes or the “Service Engine Soon” light. You will still get the message on your dash though.

Perfect Post.

And tuning it out is REALLY easy if you don't mind voiding your warranty.

All you really have to do is change the temp..but i changed everything

Skip Shift Eliminators, greatest invention since sliced bread! Bought one from Apex weeks ago but hadn't gotten around to putting it in yet. Been driving around (alot of stop and go in my commute) and cursing my laziness every friggin time the 1-4 forced skip kicked in.
Finally snapped the SSE in Friday and, voila!, no more forced 1-4 shifts. I even purposely created the conditions that it would normally kick in and, sure enough, the "warning" diagram would pop up on the DIC but I can shift into 2nd at will every time now. What a relief! Best $20 I ever spent. Thanks APEX.
