by next Monday it'll be on ebay except for a fast sale, 2k under MSRP.lol I'd be able to get 2 Camaros and cash in the pocket! lol

cars are like women, some are old, some are new, some get turned on easily some need a lot more help, some you just wanna drive into the river, some you can't wait to get inside of, some are expensive to maintain, some are low maintenance, however if you treat them right, you'll have her for the rest of your life.....

My dealer is of similar intellegence... what 800# can i ask for? What is that # called? When I call him and ask questions all I get is " i need to call my region manager" and then 3-4 days later i have to call again and then get the answer the next day.
All i have been told is " your camaro hasn't been picked up yet by the factory"... frustrating. Do they have an IDEA where it is "ranked to be built"?

Maybe its just me -i'm anxious and it is hard to wait. I ordered mine in October of 2008 - seems they should know more than i am getting from them.

Also i still wonder about the kind of financing that GM might offer... 5 years with no interest? Anyone heard anything on this?

Yup. Non-refundable unless GM doesn't make me one. But I don't care, I'm buying this car regardless and I got the pricing in writing. I'll just get financing elsewhere so they have no leverage or reason to mess with me. They may be idiots but they seem to be really cool idiots. lol Plus, i ordered in late Feb. and I'm at 3000 or better so it's kind of a reason I went with it. I was #2 where as the dealer who only wanted 500.00 refundable I would have been 15+ in line and still at 1100 for a while.

You can forget any no interest on this car for a long time. It's in too much demand right now.

It is possible that Prez Obama may give you a break on interest before GM will. I believe there is a bill lurking in congress that allows for the deduction of the interest paid on your new car loan. An attempt to intice folks to go out and buy new cars. I know it would certainly help me out. Don't know the details though. Can anyone confirm this?

I heard something similar. More about any car you buy, you will end up getting all of the tax money back. So basically tax free.

About the 3000 to being built and the Camaro sitting at the dealership. You said it has only been 3 weeks since you got the call. So, I would have to agree with you that your car isn't there. i was talking to my dealer who is a really good friend of mine. He said, "You can't trust the workbench or any other way of finding out the event code." He also said that he has had cars on the workbench sitting at a 3000 event code (like my dad and my car) and tomorrow it could be sitting at the rails being prepped for delivery to the dealership. With it basically going from a 3000 status to I think it was 4200 event Code. He told me it is completely possible at this point that on May 6th me and my dad's cars could be there waiting for us. He will no more this week though as he is going to some meeting when all the dealers at Maroone Chevrolet( at least from west Palm Beach, Florida) will get to learn all about the 2010 Camaro and get to sit in it as well.

I hope this helps ease minds a little bit. Especially since the spreadsheets don't update much or at all really anymore.

Stimulus Package's Tax Credit for New Car Buyers Means Auto Shoppers Must be Prepared to Take Advantage of Savings

WASHINGTON, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The federal stimulus package signed into law by President Obama includes a $2.3 billion tax break for new car and truck buyers, which could save auto buyers hundreds of dollars. With potentially significant savings, auto shoppers should continue to do their homework in preparation for vehicle financing decisions, says AWARE (www.AutoFinancing101.org), a non-profit auto financing education group.

"This tax credit may make a new vehicle purchase more feasible for many consumers in the near future," said Eric Hoffman, spokesperson for AWARE. "Auto buyers should educate themselves about financing before making a purchase. Shoppers should maintain a solid credit track record, and shop around for financing among several sources, including banks, credit unions, financing companies and auto dealers."

As part of the stimulus package, taxpayers will be able to deduct the both local and state sales tax paid on new car purchases up to $49,500. The tax break will cover the purchase of any new car, domestic or foreign, through the end of 2009. Additionally, the deduction is "above the line," which means that it reduces the amount of a filer's taxable income. Eligible taxpayers must have an annual income below $125,000 for individuals or below $250,000 for families.

With the availability of this tax credit in the stimulus package, auto shoppers will see noteworthy savings on new car and truck purchases. Given this opportunity for savings, shoppers should continue to follow a proven approach to financing preparation, according to AWARE.

It's not tax free. It lowers your taxable income by the amount of state and local tax you paid. So let's say you are in the 25% tax bracket and paid a total of $2000 in taxes on your car. That's $2000 that you're not paying 25% tax on. You're actually saving only $500.

I tell you one thing. This whole thing has given me some insight to a lot of car dealer business. Why would he call me and tell me this? How unorganized can people be? This is so freakin weird it's not even funny. it's almost like a joke.

I received a similar call! my dealer asked me if I could bring my car to one of the local casinos here for a gm unveiling and I said the same thing....with what car!!

They really confuse the matter by using the phrase "tax credit" and then saying that taxpayers will be able "to deduct"...
