Transmission in limp mode

2010 Camaro SS auto

Parked the car for the winter no issues. Went to pull it out about a week ago. Battery dead. Tried charging and jumping. No luck went and got a new battery.

Everything seemed fine. Car running strong, took off to drive around and warm everything up good. About 5 minutes into the drive the trans just went limp like I was in neutral. Every time I hit the gas it would just rev. Couldn’t go fast then about 30mph. Got the car home looked over everything. No fluid loss. No wires look out of place. Everything seems fine. Took it out again. Did 1-2 pulls seemed fine. Then another few minutes into the drive it was like transmission was gone. Just neutral revs. And almost like coasting home at 30 mph. It did throw a code this second time of P0700, which is just a generic come thing is wrong with the transmission code.

At this point I’m still at a loss. I guess I will do a fluid and filter change, but I can’t imagine that’s the issue as there are no puddles under the car or no indication of a leak.

Thought?…….

Probably need to check for codes in the transmission control module. The P0700 is from the TCM telling the ECM to turn on the check engine light, but your code reader probably isn't able to read the TCM.

Do a battery disconnect procedure and see if this takes care of the issue. Disconnect both cables and hook them together for 10-15 minutes.
