2014 SS L99 Misfire, Rough Idle, Many lights on

So this just started recently. On startup this morning my 2014 SS L99 is misfiring. Plugged Foxwell reader and got P0300 and P0208. then I shut it off and turned it back on and now just getting P0300 with the misfire. Check Engine, ABS, traction control, and stabilitrak lights are coming on.

Car only has 65k miles, all oil changes/fluid maintenance done on time.

It is also smelling like fuel from the exhaust area so Im thinking it could be running rich/lean.

Drove it like 1 minute around the block and it is running in like a limp mode. Thoughts on what it could be? I did have the spark plugs replaced less than 6 months ago so maybe its a loose plug/wire but I figure issue would've occurred back then.

Pull the valve covers and check for broken springs and/or bent pushrods.

Hard to really hear whats going on, for me anyways. Regardless, what the poster said above to look under the valve covers is a good idea.

Thanks. I’m not mechanically inclined but not afraid to turn a wrench. I will give it a shot and if I get stuck will just take it to a reputable local shop.

One thing I remember is I had a P0205 in December 2022 that ended up being a bad fuel injector that was fixed by the stealership. This time P0208 and P0300.

Also, does anyone know of good reputable shops in Dallas-Fort Worth metro I can have look at and fix ? I’m in the east side of Dallas around Mesquite.

P0208 should be an issue with # 8 injector, if it were me I would check the connection and also check the plug wire and coil connection and reset codes, if still getting it I would move the injector to a different cylinder reset code and see if the code changes to that cylinder.

Start there and post back, the P0300 will go along with the injector codes so don't really concern yourself with that one at the moment.

Joe G is n to something, check injector and coil connections. Then move to another cylinder just like he said.

From the video it doesn’t sound like a broken spring, or dropped valve. Could be a bent pushrod maybe, but start on the outside with Joe’s advice.

Before you waste a bunch of time moving injectors around ohm the #8 injector it should be between 11-14 ohms if not replace it. KOEO check the PK/BK wire for 12 volts

Great suggestion! I tested ohms on injector for cylinders 1, 2, and 8. Got around 13.5 ohms for 1 and 2 and 0 ohms for number 8…. Sounds like we may have our culprit. Praying it’s injector 8 and nothing else.

Fixed it by replacing injector 8. After that all lights went bye bye. Proud of myself for doing it, feels good. And the $$ saved is a bonus. Thanks again ladies and gents!!
