Reverse Lights Wiring For Camera Install
Hey everybody. Getting ready to install a new Pioneer HU, Metra Kit, & backup cam. My goal is to power the camera from the reverse lights, but I just realized that I can't get to them easily. I see a loom going from the back of the tail lights downward towards the reverse lights, and I'm wondering if anyone knows if I can tap in right there to the appropriate wires? Otherwise, do I have to remove the bumper to get to the reverse light power wires? Lastly, is there an easier way to power the backup camera? Thanks for the help guys and gals.

Okay, I found a wiring diagram, and now know that the light green wire is positive for the reverse lights. Anybody know which wire is negative?

This is more of a personal preference, but I run my cameras on the 12v ignition coming off the harness and then you run just the radio to the reverse light wire. This way it automatically pops on the screen in reverse, but if I want to look back there any time I want you just touch the camera button on your screen and it will stay in that view. Alot of people find that useful when pulling trailers but I hook mine up like that on all my vehicles so I can spy behind me if I feel the need. If you got the right aftermarket interface harness all these wires youre looking for should be right there. What model Pioneer did you get? Theyre kinda tricky to hack for video/full time nav. If you need help with that let me know, i'm a Pioneer guru.

Sorry, not the headunit, the actual camera on the back of the vehicle.
