So what exactly is the verdict on the V6 LLT and tranny? Im assuming you have a manual car?

If so how well do they stock internals handle boost? What do you think the max boost it could handle is? And how far can you go before the tranny needs to be beefed up?

Sick build man...

So far no one has blown one up, and I guess we won't really know what the weak links are until someone does. My take is the LLT takes boost well. The high compression ratio is a concern and I think it will need to be addressed before we see really high boost levels. The pistons and rods will also need to be replaced. SC2150 and I are looking around for a wrecked V6 with drivetrain pretty much intact to tear apart and really see what it is like. If we can't find one, I'll probably be taking mine down this summer and letting him dig into it for a couple of months.

As for the tranny, mine is the A6 and definitely not as strong as the M6. ROD1 is hitting his pretty hard with N02 and hasn't broken his A6 yet. I do think it will be the first thing to go, though. I haven't found any parts to beef it up and I am thinking of swapping everything from the bell housing back with stuff from the SS. Just don't know how involved that will be at this point. Right now I'm trying to take baby steps and not do too many things at once.

i have a question..i look in the front of the thread..

and you posted the links to parts and...i know single turbo would be cheaper..but how much cheaper? i am close..not really close but enough of a drive to have sc250 install a turbo single kit

Assuming you go with the same turbos I got, you would save about $1000 on that part. However, you would have some additional parts/labor to deal with the crossover and wastegate changes. I can't really say, but if you want to go that route have you considered ordering the STS kit and just having him install that? He's installed them for Vette's I believe.

Agreed! Don't like the sound and it is a long way to return the oil. It will allow you to use a smaller turbo though, so there are some advantages. Not sure SC2150 would do an engine mounted single turbo, but that is an option. Heat will be a problem, so my guess that alone would be a deal killer for him unless you want to get into water-air intercooling with one of his chiller...then he might be interested. You would also need an oil cooler for sure. He doesn't seem to be interested in taking short cuts.

GOOD. I can tell that just from my few brief interactions with him. If I go FI in the future, he's doing it. And by that I mean, I'm buying the kit from him, driving to Florida, and he's doing everything the way it should be done, while I nod my head like an idiot pretending to know what he's talking about

Well, I've got the oiling system taken apart again. Increasing the size of the everything on the scavenging side helped a lot, but still some smoke at WOT. I decided to put a check valve on the supply side to limit the oil pressure to 25 psi (I think I'm just pushing oil through the seals; once it's in the pipes it takes a while to burn out). In the process I broke the manifold SC2150 made me . I've got a local guy building a new one that will be a little easier to get on and off (two actually so SC2150 has a template). I should have that this Saturday, but may not get a chance to get it on until the following weekend.

I'm taking it one step at a time so I don't starve the turbos for oil. If this step doesn't work then I'll put smaller restrictors in (already have them), but I'll have to take the turbos off to do that. Hope it doesn't come to that.

Other than that, the car was still running well until my mistake. Charge temps are looking real good and the AFR looks to be just a little rich at the top end. It happens so quick that you barely see it on the wide-band and you hit another gear. I need to work on getting that gauge to feed into my logging tool, but that's further down the road.

I just got back from picking up the new oil manifold to repace the one I broke. It looks good and I think it will be easier to install/uninstall than our original design. I've already sent SC2150 pics so he sees what it looks like. Won't have time to install today, but should be able to do it tomorrow.

Man... I hadn't noticed till now how low your tubes sit under the frame! You may want to look into something like this for the tubes going forward to the intercooler... You'd have to get a spigot welded on but it wouldn't be as vulnerable as that setup. The wall thickness is a bit more substantial as well on this section of tubing. It would save you almost 2" of clearance.

Might give it a try, thanks. Certainly can't lower it as is. It really looks worse than it is. I bet if we had painted them black no one would say a thing. I've been over a low-water bridge at my friends house dozens of times and it has never scraped. I do go over speed bumps pretty slowly, but nothing has scraped so far.
