When I learned to drive, I was taught to use the emergency brake every time I park, regardless of vehicle. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't harm the mechanism.

I use mine all the time. It's there, why not use it? I always park my car with it in gear and ebrake up.

Put it in neutral, turn off the key and set the brake.

Use it every time I park. Shift into reverse and engage the hand brake.

When I first used my e-brake a few days ago it was hard as hell to engage it and to disengage is that normal ???

Having a manual trans I use it every time I park.
