With this kind of performance, I wonder what the skidpad rating will be?

The Mustang GT (.95) has been beating the Camaro SS (.90) and according to Road & Track, the GT500 pulls 1.00G.

after checking out the video again, it looks like he doesnt want to go past the red line. wouldnt wanna blow that engine while testing at this famous track in germany

As you'll see, the car is wearing street tires -- the same Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar G:2s you'll see on the production cars -- and Reuss told us it wore these during the timed laps.

The inside line interview also specifically states that tires were the Eagle F1:G2's.

Here's what I think. If I can afford it I will trade in the SS and buy it. I have no plans to race it on a track so times don't matter to me. Just so I know it will go faster than I'll ever be able to drive it is good enough. Just plan on showing it off

I love the "wait till Ford puts 620 HP in the Mustang" comments, I hope they put 725 HP in one....wait a minute Shelby does that! Have you seen the performance #s on the Super Snake? Brutal...absolutely brutal for that much power.....

The mustang needs to take a page out of the ZL1 tech book before their HP #s scare me...

Team,
Ok. I am gonna go ahead and say it. I am no deserving of the camaro more than any other on here. I have faith in everything that has been spoken. In feb
for example this was said:
"John Fitz - Camaro Marketing Mgr:
Lot's of questions on pricing... The only thing we can say at this time is that we will announce a price by the end of the year... We plan to be competitive with our competitive set "
With that being said, of course we are assuming but anyway, if the competitive
set is Mustang GT500( i doubt it would be anything else here really )
and the Mustantang GT500's Base MSRP is Less than $50k....
Then anything from $49k to $54K tops would be inside that competitive set.
Not $56k to $60k. That would be considered in mho outside the competitive set as far as pricing. Camaro base has ALWAYS cost more than a base Mustang. I am about uber-CAMARO enthusiast as one can get.
But if this car rolls out with a base price of over $54k I am more than going to be pissed off. It will be a true miracle for a lower class uber-CAMARO enthusiast as my self to pay $48k let along $55k. Not saying I wont but I do not think for one minute that the uber-CAMARO enthusiast can afford a $56k to $60k CAMARO. I just hope some of us are not losing site this car is still a CAMARO and not a Caddy, or a Corvette. Typically a Camaro has always reflected a class of people. Not poor people no, not even middle class.. But somwhere in between Poverty and the upper lower class...I am 48 yrs old as of today wheres my cake? I WANT MY CAKE! (you know, creep show)
I am not poor by anymeans. I do not even consider myself as middle working class. My parents are in the hard working top middle class. They can afford more than most. But they would NEVER drive a camaro. Just saying. Camaros are for kids. Like me.
Sorry. Just speaking from the heart. Its just that I feel so many of us are going to have to sell a arm and a leg to get this car. They want it sooo badly.
Almost to the point of selling one's soul to get one. Should GM stretch us out THAT far in this economy??? It did not start this way. It started slow....then we got a little more knowledge of the car... its like we are all here waiting for the BIG hook....and then only to find we can't afford the damn thing.
GM I challenge you. Keep this car reasonably affordable to the uber-CAMARO enthusiast . How much would I pay for my ultimate ZL1 camaro out of One of 14 camaros that I have owned?
$52,000 to 53,000 tops. Or I walk. Just saying. You wanted a price. There it is.
If I offended anyone by my comments, I apologies. It is not intended. I speak from the heart.

Wink

dear fbodfather... please forgive me for I have sinned. I repent now.
I guess I am just getting older and more set in my hard headed ways as today is my birthday. Maybe I am just worried about the car being 60k. We just dont know. Whatever the price is some way there will be a way, there always has been. It is a good year to be a camaro fanatic. It is a good day for pony car wars and the pony car debate.
I am doing my best to contain but I need your guidance daily to keep me on track.
Wow. I feel so much better now.
I am not surprised by how many mustang guys are visiting C5 these days.
They just wanna ride with us in our new toy the ZL1.
Night people! I gotta give it a break.
