"A marketing strategy"?
So my question right now is, When does withholding the ZL1's price Stop being a good "Marketing Strategy" and start becoming "Irritating"?
I know I have read many people here are tired of the wait, especially now that they ARE taking orders. Your thoughts? |

It would be nice to know but I am sure GM is holding it back for good reasons.

I'd say they know how much it costs to build, but they do not know the true interest in the car yet. I would guess the price will based on the amount of pre-orders

I don't know, but if they haven't released it yet, there must be a reason. IMO

Interest in purchasing the ZL1 will correspond strongly with its price. The higher its price, the less interest there will be in purchasing the vehicle. The lower its price, the more interest there will be in purchasing the vehicle. The goal is to price the vehicle at the point where the maximum profit will be obtained. If the car is priced too high, not enough vehicles will be sold to recoup its cost. If it's priced too low, then will be money left on the table.

The 2010 was orderable before pricing, the vert was orderable before pricing, the 2012 (45AE) was orderable before pricing....
Happens all the time. It will be realeased soon. |

Minor changes or tweaks could still be made at this point. Supply pricing ect. All guesses but could be a host of reasons.

I think he was looking for a "rational basis" as to why pricing is released after ordering opens.

It doesnt matter. Its a niche market. Few people are going to buy the ZL1 its not going to be like an SS, where they are fairly common. People that are going to buy them are going to order them regardless of price.

It's not marketing. Just because you don't undertand why someone is doing something, doesn't mean you should just chalk it up to some mythical term.
They have their reasons. The price needs to go through different teams and be signed off by different people. |
