Well John said my dealer is misunderstanding the May 6th thing. It is like a launch of the car at dealerships but those preorders of cars should get their cars if they come in before that.

That is the day they are supposed to put thier 1 Camaro LT model on the showroom floor. Thats what John's e-mail says and I am going to take it to my dealer today.

GM just needs to make sure more dealers do not take it wrong like mine has. So maybe they will read this thread since some of you have had dealers say the same thing as mine and GM can fix it.

I did hear this in my area in NY also from a person who was talking to a regional GM rep. I thought it was a rumor.

Again only repeating what was told to me this morning, not trying to start something. I just want the truth and yes I can handle the truth!!!
This is YOUR DEALER wanting to make more money. GM gets the same amount of money whether your dealer sells it at invoice or +$10K over MSRP. And as far as creating demand... GM's done an excellent job of doing that by getting these cars out to shows and on the road with the captured test fleet. No way they wouldn't release it til May 6th. They need the money NOW, not two months from now. And-- I think almost every dealer in the country has probably sold their entire allocation up through the 4th quarter this year already from pre-orders alone, and those are all the Camaros GM is going to make for the next 6 months, so why delay getting these cars on the street?

I think the only thing you need to worry about is that your dealer is an idiot.

This flies in the face of current economic policy - which, for GM, is probabaly , "get as much $$ in the door as quickly as possible..." The dealers on this forum know more about this than me, but it seems that the time value of money theory prevails in the auto industry (floor plans, interest, etc...), meaning, the quicker you can get the $$ in your hands the more valuable it is. I would think for dealerships, especially these days, 30 - 60 days of "sitting" on a bunch of $38k cars is near suicide.
Just seems too far fetched to happen. Maybe there is a May 6th "here is the Camaro" day, but i cannot see holding onto inventory for a date certain.

Either way, Its comin' - We got your back bro.

Does anyone here remember the 1997 Corvette lauch in Jan. 1997? Chevy did the same thing. The cars were delivered and you had to keep a cover over it etc, etc.

A lot of dealers are misunderstanding this May 6th thing. From April 1st-May15th is the "Chevy Open House" promotion. Chevy wanted all dealers to have a Camaro for this event. Since start of production was moved back a month, it delayed delivery of these V6 cars. Chevy has figured that the V6's should be to all dealers by May 6th and that will be the "official" reveal date. If your car comes in sooner, the dealer DOES NOT have to hold the car. Chevy has put together a lauch kit that dealers can buy and they want you to buy a car cover to keep the "display" Camaro under wraps.

Bottom line, if you have a car ordered and assigned a build date and it arrives at the dealer before May 6th, then they better let you have your car. You can always drive it back for the reveal event. Now wouldn't that be cool?

Sorry to hear about that! The BS factor on a scale of 1 to 10 is a 100. Hope this gets resolved and you get the Camaro way before then, for your daughter.

Unfortunately it is a national dealer unveiling at all dealerships accross the country. It doesn't make any sense, but at that time they just pull the canvas back on the V6 they have in the showroom and showcase the vehicle.

So when are they (GM) going to realize that some dealers are taking the email about the "MAY 6" big reveal out of context, and they are planning to hold-off sales of the cars until May 6?

They need to send a new email out to the dealers in order to clarify that they CAN and NEED TO wrap up thier sales of the sold orders ASAP after dealer delivery!!!

email should read....... DO NOT WAIT UNTIL MAY 6 !!!!!

some dealers..........really are idiots
