I never dynoed the car stock so I have no info on what it made stock but I did dyno it last week with the CAI and Catback (NO TUNE)

Results are 351RWHP/358RWTQ

I then put the OBX Headers on the car (NO CATS)
I came back to the shop today, again we just ran it with no tuning

Results were 376RWHP/384RWTQ

CAR PICKED UP 25RWHP/26RWTQ (NO TUNING)

Here is the interesting part, we then tuned the car and it only picked up
6RWHP/11RWTQ

Results after tuning 382RWHP/395RWTQ

So it seems the OBX are for real, just wanted to pass the info along to guys that were interested in the results

Time to go to the track....
Next up, converter change...
You have seen Exactly What We have seen soo many times, 25RWHP/26RWTQ From Long Tubes and with tuning another 6RWHP/11RWTQ

This is Right on the Money.

Ted.

And people keep asking me why I don't get my car tuned after the header installation. Isn't it obvious?...not too much to gain. I'll hang on to the $300 I would have to pay for a tune and use it for something else.

Thanks for posting Ted.

I understand your feelings. However I have to tell you man after the tune the car feels so different. Better throddle response, quicker rolling takeoffs, more agressive feel. When I left the tune shop to head home (three hour drive) It was like driving a brand new car home. It is just amazing how much a good tune can change the characteristic features of the car. Olus no more skip shift or speed limiter.

Maybe it's the fact that you have zero back pressure because you are not running mufflers? I put the headers on and felt a huge seat of the pants difference. I'm running the stock cat-back (LS3 Resonators and Mufflers). Maybe somehow I am getting better driveability due to this (backpressure)?

No I felt all the same stuff after the headers were installed, (I had the headers on longer), I felt a noticeable difference after the tune also. I amo not saying you have to get a tune just think about it for the future. Don't dismiss the prossibility of ever getting one done.....

those gains are pretty typical for an automatic... for some reason the LS3 guys see bigger gains from the same mods.

That is because you are only calculating PEAK HP per Dollar, there are far more benefits from tuning and a hand Held Tuner, than just HP.

I said this in another thread.

Running LT headers without a tune is Like Wearing Running Shoes and Sitting Down.

Ted.

Is this true?

If so, it should be a major red flag!

EDIT:

I found a good thread to read before buying these...

http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1460732

this guy has a lot of problems with his, and then he could not find a customer service # and they wouldn't answer his emails.

And it turns out that OBX is Ebay only... big red flag. Save yourself the headache... keep the money in the US.

Good rule of thumb: If you have never heard of the company, try to talk to customer service before you buy from them... not after the purchase.

If you have a problem with Kooks or ARH... you call them.... or the Kooks/ARH guys actually come on this site regularly.

Thumbs up

I found a good thread too. Oh wait...

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...&highlight=obx

There is always two sides to every coin. Lotsa guys on this site have purchased OBX Camaro headers and love them. Remember...this thread is about OBX's Camaro headers. Lets keep it apples to apples. This isn't a Bimmer douchebag site.
