Called the dealership and they did some checking and found a recall

July, so I'm driving my new car around missing the front piece.

OP - Hope they get the new part in soon, I know it must look bad.

Yes there is a recall on the ground effects pkg, if the label on the packing box has a blue dot sticker next to the part number, then it is an upgraded kit. If it doesn't have a blue sticker, make sure the dealer doesn't install it, or the front could come off.
The problem lies with the whole nose part is just stuck on with 3M tape and it doesn't handle the air pressure of sustained highway speeds.

No I don't have pics, I was so pissed when it was hanging down that I didn't think
of grabbing the camera.

I bought the car in Canal Winchester, OH at Bob McDorman Chevrolet.
I was in Ohio for 10 months working on the Rockies Express pipeline project
and ordered it back in October. They called me on 5-5-09 and sayed that it just rolled in. Hopped a plane on the 12th and drove it back to Colorado,
where I am currently on a pipeline job here. It was the first SS in Ohio.

Just be sure to let the dealer to check the GFX to make sure that they are the upgraded
ones b4 they install them. They don't just attach over the factory rocker panels and rear facia. They remove the old rocker panels and facia. Be sure they give you the original pieces so you have them if ever you wipe out the GFX pieces, so you can at least go back to stock panels while you are waiting for parts.

Ground effects were confirmed a while back as a dealer installed part. Just like the stripes, and others (Hurst was rumored too at one point), if it fails, first suspect is the dealer's shop THEN the factory.

IN other words, like it's been said before the only recall the dealer has to deal with is recalling your order invoice to find out how much it's gonna cost his bum to replace a part his drugged out techs screwed up on install. So, in the end, I stand by my case on your dealer being an idiot for calling it a 'factory recall' when the factory doesn't install the ground effects.

It's also why you see half body color matched and half unpainted; it's up to the dealer and customer to decide that.
