With a well setup valvetrain and a very good spring you can run alot closer Clearance than most want to. I'm Also sure the lg stuff is more well equipted and more well setup than 99% of peoplesstreet setups ever will be.
So don't think just because they do it. Doesn't mean everyone can.

Wrong about lgs cam specs.

and just a small note because I remember LG telling me this when I asked about this cam..... that even though the "insdustry standard" for minimum ptv clearance on the intake is .080", LG said they they have ran as close as .040" on some of their race motors.... which would be a very good indictation that the cam runs extremely close PTV clearance, as LG said any sort of milling/running a thinner head gasket WILL require flycutting (i mentioned to them my heads were milled .020 and planned on using stock head gaskets, and they said there was no way it would clear). just an fyi.

Let us know how that works out. I was also told milling the heads was out with this cam unless you flycut the pistons. I am going to try porting my heads and ported throttle body and underdrive pulley to see how close that will get me to 500 rwhp.

We do the cnc ported heads exchange for $800 if you decide to do the heads. We can get you a couple cc's milled off the heads without losing any p/v. I would be interested in hearing how much p/v clearance you have. I've heard a few shops tell me those things have .025" or less.

Your website says $899 for ported heads, can I keep my heads instead of exchanging? I think I am afraid to mill my heads if the PTV is that close. Thanks for the info Jason.

If you are looking to mill them to the max, then if I were you I would order the heads from TSP with 0 ptv loss (since they said they can mill the heads a little bit without losing ptv clearance... i'm going to assume by sinking the valves).

Then throw the heads on your car, measure ptv clearance. From that measurement, you can figure out how much more (if you can that is) you can mill. Then take it to a local machine shop and have them mill the heads further. Milling heads usually runs around $75. Then you can put them on, and still send your originals back to texas speed for a core refund!

I remember reading recently that WCCH -a well known porter- didn't reccomend sinking the valves as it hurt flow. Better off fly cutting the pistons is what was said.

I am milling the heads .040 and the pistons are going to be flycut.

According to lg that puts me in the 11.3 range for compression, and is worth about 15rwhp all across the powerband.

When I was talking to them about ported heads, they said the amount of lowend you loose, and not being able to add much compression with the stock shortblock.
They felt I was better off just leaving the ports stock.

Unless you go with a bigger motor. Hoping that will bring up my gas mileage too. Because after all this is just my daily driver get to work and back car.

any reason in particular?

just wondering if you were thinking about going bigger or smaller... in case I might do some trading, if you are interested.
