I'm hoping all this is a rumour or it has been corrected. Be curious to see who gets there vins this week that ordered the 6spd manual.

If you check the Camaro Issues/Warranty section you'll find the issues with the 6M transmission shafts snapping for what we think is a certain VIN range.

My dealer made a good point... If there was a major issue with the M6 that haulted production, they would issue a constraint on it allowing customers to opt for automatic. There is currently no constraint on M6s, therefore aside from isolated issues, I think we should be good to go this week. We shall see!!!

Why is the transmission having issues now? It has been tried and tested in corvettes so how come the camaro having issues with it?

RJT...you are really hyped up about this, aren't ya? You are all over the place battling speculations, rumors, or what have ya. You are stressing yourself out.
Guys, if you want to draw your own conclusion, please go to the Camaro Issues | Problems | Warranty Discussions forum and read and dissect regarding the M6 ouput shaft. Members posted pics of broken output shaft. If this happens to more M6, then it becomes a solid manufacturing defect and GM will make an official recall/constraints/ whatever you want to call it. But at this point, it seems that recently produced SS with M6 are being held in QC. And for you who keeps asking whether V6 M6 or SS M6.... it is the tremec M6 which is the M6 in the SS. Oh crap...the post above confirms it. Well, there you go, SS with M6 orders will have to sit and wait and suffer weeks in delay. :( We were almost there!!!! |
