Go with suspension upgrades power is useless if you can't put it to the ground

Man, I have a huge list. Engine rebuild (20 over, 6 inch rods) and cam swap would be first off, then a bunch of tubular chassis components, new springs and shocks, a new hood, new paint, and some other exterior bits. I also have an entire interior overhaul planned. But thats on a decently used (113k on the odo) LT1. On an LS1, I'd go with a maggie in a heart beat like others have suggested.

Seriously, I would think about holding back 1/2 the money for the next ride. Whatever you put into this car will not increase its value much. Investment wise its money thrown away.

Then with ~$3000 you should be able do all the things you listed in the OP. You should be able to run high to mid 11's. Rear end will be the weak link, save some money for when it goes.

If you want to spend more, a new 12 bolt or 9" with 4.10 gears will make a big difference. LCA, Panhard, Torque Arm, and springs/shocks will be a big help launching, controlling wheel hop, and handling.

This is really beneficial everyone, thanks a ton for all the input

Luckily, a little more cash came in, so its almost positively going to be about 8k for mods. I'm thinking about spending about 2k on suspension mods, such as panhard, torque arm, springs/shocks, about 3k for engine mods such as fast intake, tune, headers/exhaust, cam, heads, and a good clutch, and the rest goes on some 4.10's. and a good set of rubber.

I honestly don't plan on ever selling my car unless a fellow enthusiast ever might want it, but one can never tell how things will go in the future. One thing is for sure in my future is a 5th gen, just might have to wait a couple more years

Again just trying to see what the best bang for the buck would be, kinda brainstorming out loud here, I love the input everyone
BigMike,
Thanks for considering Hotchkis as part of your 2000 Camaro upgrade. We actually have a soft spot for 4th gen Camaros. We've seen some very fast cars at some of the autocross and road course events we attend and we had a lot of fun with our project Camaro.

Mild headwork, Torquer V2 cam, LT headers, decent tires, all new fluids, brakes, and tint the rear hatch. Then get a GOOD tune, not a mail order.

You should have quite a bit of money left over. Pics of the car?

Everything is bone stock on the car. If you were me, what would do to get the most bang for the buck?
I'm thinking, cam, heads, headers/exhaust, tune, and at least bigger roters and sway bars and bushings.

Any ideas or suggestions?

OK . . . $8000 is the budget . . . 427 STROKER TIME ! ! !

STRANGE S60 Rear End with gears of your choice & TrueTrac posi - $2500

DARTON M.I.D. Sleeves 4.125" bore - $2600

K1 4340 4.00" Stroke Crank & K1 6.125" 4340 H-Beam Rods - Wiseco "LS Series" pistons $1900

STRANGE Custom Chrome-Moly Driveshaft w/ 1350 U-Joints $ 500

Custom Hydraulic-Roller Cam ( ground by COMP CAMS ) Spec'd by Patrick Guerra - $500

. . . . . . . . . . . . .

THEN, start saving for the REST of the car ( CNC ported Heads, T56 MAGNUM, KOOKS headers, Torque Arm & Relocation Bracket, Sub-Frame Connectors, Lower Control Arms, etc )

If you're gunna up the power look into the rear end. It won't last long on hard launches.

For me personally, I'd go heads, cam, exhaust, rear end.
