If you had 6,000-8,000 to spend to mod your car what would you do?
Ok, so I have around 6-8k to use to mod my car,
which is a 2000 Camaro SS M6 w/59k on the car, 10k on the engine. Everything is bone stock on the car. If you were me, what would do to get the most bang for the buck? I'm thinking, cam, heads, headers/exhaust, tune, and at least bigger roters and sway bars and bushings. Any ideas or suggestions? |

Skip the S/C, I think you're dead on with heads/cam/bushings. Maybe throw in some sways, control arms, and a strut tower brace and you're SET! Just my .02

Me personally, LS1 swap, followed by selling the old drivetrain and rolling cage for whatever I can get for them, and then probably a supercharger or twin-turbo (because, hey, who doesn't like a TTV8?), CARB legal headers, and/or a suspension upgrade.
Of course, all this would probably exceed $8,000, so we'd have to start a pro's and con's list...

Trust me I want a 5th gen so bad I can taste it, however, I'm going to wait for the ZR1 or even if GM decides to eventually put out a Z28. But who knows how that's going to take. Camaro's like mine are a dime a dozen around here, I know of at least 4 exact duplicates.. I figure its time to make mine stand out a bit, and hey if I can get around 500hp at the rear wheels and still keep it streetable, then until I can afford one, I can at least hang with them
See I've thought about a Kenne Bell or a Maggie, but the drivetrain parts are getting a bit old, I figure its smarter to make sure your car can handle the horsepower you want to plant to the pavement, which for those who've driven in this area know the roads and wrecks are pretty commonplace, I dont want to be another statistic, unless it's a good one So I'm leaning heavily towards engine mods, I've thought even about stroking it out to a 383, or go for the gusto and get the 408, the options are almost limitless, but If I go that route, I'd probably go towards a Hotchkis or something similar type of suspension. Again just trying to see what the best bang for the buck would be, kinda brainstorming out loud here, I love the input everyone Thinking about going to talk to the guys at Texas Speed and see what they reccomend, I've heard they do pretty good work |
