Window Tint - Leave Top Down
I am having my windows tinted this coming weekend. Anyone do the same, how did you handle the do not roll your windows down for 5-7 days? When you put the top down the windows automatically go down. Any issues leaving the top down for a period of time? Obviously its not a daily driver. Thanks!

If it was my call if leave the top up. Wouldn't want the freak shower ruining my day. If you have them do it and leave the top down make sure they do the rear window first as you obviously can't access it once it's down. All that said the tops prefer to be stored in the up position.

I was told to only leave the windows up for 48 hours....so I just didn't put my top down for the required time...I wanted to, but did not. They really said 5-7 days?? That is crazy.

When I tinted mine, I was told to not roll them down (aka put the top down) for just a day or so and that the little indexing it does won't harm it. I got that done last year and there are no problems.

With previous vehicles they have said not to roll the windows down for a week, figured it would be the same?

Well if you can bare to leave the top up for that time period, then play it on the safe side. I think the biggest thing is to do it at a reputable company with a good warranty.

I would ask when you get it done. I just got mine done about a month ago and it was only 48 hours and like he stated above the indexing won't harm it. I "think" they may have told me not to clean the tint for a week and to make sure whatever I used had no ammonia in it.

Had mine done a few months ago. Same local shop that has done like 8 vehicles for me. New adhesive on the film they use. Only had to leave the windows up for 24 hours and the indexing didn't bother the film a bit. Go find another shop if they are telling you a week.

I had mine done about 6 months ago, didnt put windows for a day. Let car sit in heat to cure tint faster and BAM! its still looks new.. I did back window too, it was the first vert that shop had tinted.

If the shop knows what they are doing... they will do it right to handle the decompressing windows on the camaro... also, you only need the leave them up for 48 hrs. No tint needs 5-7 days.

Hmm, that's a funny number, Ryan. I know a couple of professional tinters and have had many windows tinted by one individual with a high quality tint (Sunglory or some crap like that?), and all we ever do is a 24 hour wait.
I do 48 hours just to be safe, but I'm funny like that |

Leave the top up, the only problem I had with my tint was getting in and out of the car the window moves 1/2 inch then goes back up when you close it. I did have to get the drivers side touched up. I say if it is not your daily driver get it done and leave it alone for 3 days.
