9" Rear Owners - How much Gear Noise Do You Have?
I was expecting an OE sound level from the 9" rear, which maybe is unrealistic so I am just trying to find out what's normal. How much gear noise does your 9" axle have?

virtually none. More than stock rear and bushings because of upgraded bushings. But, not more than stock rear and upgraded bushings.

It depends on who builds them of course.. We assemble all of ours in-house here and they are quiet.

If you put a suspension bushing kit in at the same time that could make it louder.

I have a bit of gear noise in mine. I'm running motive 4.30's. I just changed out the fluid at the 500 mile mark to some nice 75/140 synthetic and that quieted it down substantially.
I am also running hyme jointed toe rods/trailing arms and solid cradle bushings, so this will also increase the noise. I set the gears up myself which contributes the most to my whine lol. |

Normal for a set of performance gears. Not loud enough to hear over the stereo at a decent level? I may be up at the LSX shootout next weekend. If you are heading up that way you are more than welcome to go for a ride and hear mine.

The one benefit is people move out of the way because they think I must be a fire truck.....so at least I have that going for me. |
