Completely agree. Hard to argue with their consistency on the track, which is why I bought this car.

Not even close. The tires themselves are not really meant for the street. Yes, you can use them on the street, but they really shine/excel at high temperatures....temps you wont generally get on a street.

Even at drag racing, it's still a more or less wasted tire..

And I had an SS.... it wasn't fast enough

2 (and one autocross event) and 4000 street miles, 1200 of which were at max camber (bad idea). I think they are susceptible to cording mostly due to the extreme camber adjustment, not the tires themselves.

Will the PS4S last longer than the GY in daily driving? That makes the difference for me.

Yes. They should last just as long or longer than an MPSS which should easily and regularly see 15,000-20,000 miles, many owners with a gentler right foot with no track use see 30k.

I believe the PS4S has a 300 treadwear rating just like the MPSS. Check to see what the goodyears are.

+1

The Michelin does have a higher treadwear rating, which is a good gauge (but cannot, in and of itself be directly compared between manufacturers...or even between tires). The MP4S ALSO has more physical tread to begin with. 9.5/32" v 7/32". So even if they had the same wear characteristics, you've got about 30% more tread to burn through on the Michelins.

The GY G:3 tires are more track-oriented, hence the shallower tread...while the MP4S are more street-oriented.

Excellent point of fact.

It's apples and oranges. It essentially comes down to the application of use and personal preference. Climate and driving style also play a role.

People have made their choices. No matter what anyone says most will remain where they are. I will remain with Michelins. There is no right or wrong. It’s YOUR money. Buy whatever makes YOU happy.

Somewhere I read that it was because Michelin thought that their tires shouldn't go in anything less than a Corvette. They were wrong with the ZL1, they missed that publicity of a great car. Very snoobish way of thinking.

That has got to be bull, Mustang got smart and uses them a lot, Camaro was just cheap, as GY came up with deal they couldn't refuse.

Michelin didn't have to, they had the cup2's ,MPSS, and the PS4S. GY just did there BJ on Camaro with a cheaper price and develops a tire that I agree is competitive to the Cup 2 with there R compound. But the non R F1 G3's are not as good as the MPSS and especially not the PS4S.

Looking into a set of PS4S from Tirerack for $1340 with main-in rebate. The Goodyears are fine, they just grab every rock they come in contact with, I'll use them for the occasional track day.
