Does anyone know what the legal % of window tint is in NY..........?

Has anyone done the tint themself if so, any tips ?
The rear window has very little room to work.
Thanks for any input.

OK this is NY tint law......ALL Side windows need to let in MORE than 70% of light................So, with the factory tint which is App. 80+% You could only put on a VERY VERY LIGHT tint.......... NOT WORTH IT !!!

I was going to use a 50% tint (which is LIGHT) That would be WAY DARKER than what is legal in NY.
REAR WINDOW has no restrictions.........
So, with my black interior It doesn't look to bad.....and thats the way it will stay.

Tint Master on Rt 5 in East Windsor, Ct. I got 35% (I believe it was 35) he said it is illegal but I don't care. Just roll the windows down when you get stopped. As long as you aren't doing anything wrong they are not going to bother you.

They have less then 35 as well and do a great job. I will see if the wife can post pictures tomorrow.

Anybody have problems with tinting the back window due to the cyclops light back there? Did they have to take apart your car to get the tint applied correctly?

No problems with mine. My guy had the whole car done within an hour.

TintKing is a shady business IMO. Not even a work order or any paperwork.

I'll be giving you a call about tinting my windows. You are pretty close by and I'd prefer to use someone that is here on C5.
