WTF!!! OIL LEAK.....UPDATED PICS

ok so I was working on my car and noticed oil at the bottom of my bell housing...i wiped it off and got a flashlight and I see oil on my starter. the other side by the oil filer looks to be ok... I also notice black residue coming out of the bell housing... anyone have any ideas of where the oil leak could be coming from. I dont think its coming from the valve cover, I took a paper towel and wiped all around it... paper towel was dry still.

Had a similar problem, took car to the dealer, the only way to check it was to put dye in the oil. Drove for a few days, then took it back. They discovered a leak at a fixing in coolant system. Easy fix.

Back in January, I discovered a leak on the floor of my garage. Took it to the dealer and they found out that the oil pan gasket at the rear of the oil pan had collapsed. They installed a new gasket...all is fine...

Just a thought...

The thing that really gets meis I don't want to take it to the dealership. I did call today and talked to my salesman, I'm actually good friends with him. He told me to bring it in and he will make sure it gets taken care of. What worries me is, I dont want no one to drive my car but me. Ive invested alot of money in my car. Im seriously thinking of fixing this myself. If i have to pull the tranny and DS out, might as well get new ones and go all out with it and get the 9' rear kit and a new tranny that will hold 1000hp.

The dealer mechanics are professionals. If you aren't willing to take your car to them to find out what the problem is, then why are you posting this problem on the forum? The dealer will fix it for free. You paid for this service when you bought a brand new car.

Professionals? HA!! Maybe in your area. Sure in the hell isn't here. Thats why I'm fixing it myself. Already have the DS out, tranny out, clutch out. Waiting on the dealership now.

well, just got the update today... My car is leaking oil from the rear main seal and rear engine cover

I'm lucky they are fixing this under warranty. They could have easily voided my warranty.

Supposed to get it back this Friday...

Just spoke with a guy in a 10 ss only prob he had was a bad pan gasket. My engine replacement was held up by a gasket redesign( llt engine coolant system). I'm thinking whoever is making the gaskets might not be doing a good job!

And if you'd just have taken it to the dealership in the first place you would probably already have it back and not have been worried about them voiding your warranty.

Just had my oilpan gasket replaced under warranty. I guess it's a common problem amongst the 6.2s...
