At some point, the tail wire or power wires must penetrate the door.

They should just sell kits specific to this car with everything needed.

I'm thinking what he did was connect an EL wire to one inverter, and place the inverter inside the door panel.. Start at one end of the panel and start running the wire around (with the power wire under the panel). The other end of the EL wire should have an end cap, which would be tucked at he opposite ending point of the panel. Hence, no exposed wires. The wire he used has a "tuck tail" used specifically for sewing onto fabric, which acts much like the tuck on the fabric piping, this is what keeps the wire snuggly tucked into the panel..am I explaining this coherently? I think I understand how he has this set up. But they way it is powered into the window power wire doesn't allow independent use of the EL wire.

The measurements are as followed:

Dash (right of steering wheel): 3'2"
Dash (left of steering wheel): just over 5"
Door panels: 5'4"

Hmm. This is tough to explain.

I get how the EL tail wire is mounted. I'm asking how it goes into the door panel to get power.

used a heavier duty upholstery material from a local upholstery shop W/a stiffer plastic insert. I tried the softer maxi piping and didn't like the result or the look. just go to a local upholstery shop and I am sure they will be glad to make some up for you. boat shop is even better. (Canvas) each door takes about 7 ft.

what do you mean straightened ? Removed cloth, cleaned off glue, sanded out dimples from staples and painted old ones.

Just got home from picking up some maxi piping for my 1SS.

I grabbed white piping, summit white exterior, black interior. Should pop very well! Very cheap mod, was under $10 for 4 packs (always get more than you need just in case....)
