So they said they would answer any additional questions after the chat ended. Did that happen?

Camaro Marketing Manager

Two weeks ago, after the reveal of the 2010 Chevy Camaro, I and a few members of the Camaro team held a series of chats on GMnext.com to answer some of your questions about the car. The response was overwhelming — we were typing as fast as we could and still couldn’t get to about 100 of your questions.

We saved all those extra questions that you submitted and have some answers to the most popular questions. Enjoy!

Q: Pricing wise, is Chevy targeting the Camaro market and is the price going to be competitive with the Mustang?
A: Pricing will be announced later this year. We expect to be competitive with Mustang and Challenger in price.

Q: Will the 2010 Camaro be a one time thing? Or will a new model come out every year?
A: Camaro has a specific life-cycle plan.

Q: In the reveal it was said that Chevy was still working on the fuel economy for the Camaro. Does that mean they are working on it prior to production? Or for future model years?
A: Both – we have a strong desire to deliver best in class fuel economy for every segment Chevrolet competes in.

Q: Is the curb weight going to be above or below 3500lbs for the V6?
A: We are working very hard on mass, but at this time, yes, the curb weight is over 3500 lbs.

Q: Is GM looking at a hardtop option?
A: The Camaro’s top has been one of the most researched convertible tops, but after much consideration, a cloth top was the best option for Camaro.

Q: How will this car help GM, and more importantly the city of Detroit?
A: We are working very hard to expand beyond the “muscle car” persona. We think the Camaro will prove that GM can deliver efficiency, performance and a great looking car at an outstanding value.

Q: What is the difference between the RS tail lights and the standard tail lights?
A: The RS tail lights have a darker appearance.

Q: Will we see wheels offered that look like the concept convertible’s?
A: Not at start of production, but maybe somewhere down the line.

Q: Could you elaborate on the “most advanced navigation system available?”
A: The OnStar turn-by-turn navigational system is very simple. One touch of the blue button puts you in touch with an advisor that can immediately download directions to you (no fooling with having to input direction). And the system is smart in if you go off route, the system gives you an audible alert to either get you back on route at later point or an opportunity to update a your route. Finally, if you are having trouble finding your destination, an OnStar advisor is always available to assist you.

Q: Any Hot Rod exhaust options available?
A: GM Parts will have a range of performance parts available. More information will be available soon on what will be offered.

Q: What can we expect to see at the Indy event in September?
A: We are planning to give attendees an up close and personal look at Camaro. We’ll have the experts who were involved with the Camaro’s development available to answer all your questions.

Q: There are three different sizes for the wheels and tires. Are the wheels/rims all the same appearance but in the different sizes?
A: No. 18” Heritage Steel Wheels will be available on the LS. An 18” Alloy Wheel will be available on 1LT, and 19” Wheel on the 2LT. A 20” Wheel will be base wheel on SS model and available on LT w/RS package. All the wheels will have different finishes and styles.

Q: Will my golf clubs fit in the trunk?
A: Yes!
