Ran into a little problem.

I have the bracket going as close to the windshield and as high as possible so that the radar detector does not obstruct the view. With the Passport 8500, the passenger visor cannot swing all the way around. I should have pictures of the first prototype installed in a couple hours.

The visor will go past 90, but not all the way to the windshield. With shorter radar detectors this should not be a problem. My STi Driver will be here tomorrow so I will update with that.

I could drop the radar detector down a bit but then I am worried about visibility. Pics coming soon.

Ok guys, Heres the prototype pics.

This is not perfect and not finished yet. They will have a black rubber coating on them to prevent and scratches/tears in the headliner.

Drivers view - honestly doesnt obscure at all. Much less than a center mounted.

Closer -

The visor clip "snaps" in to hold the bracket still. It does not wobble or move at all while driving. No annoying rattle.

The only problem - I do not want to drop down the detector anymore because of visibility. I can live with the passenger visor only opening this much - You guys?

I also did the "Direct Wire SmartCord" and hard wired it to my fuse box on the drivers side so I have a remote light and mute button that sits right behind the driver's side door window defrost vent so almost no wires are exposed. This way I see the light go off on the right side as well as the left so I shouldn't miss it no matter which way I am looking.
