Thumbs down Rotten Egg smell from A/C - Defrost?

Has anyone had this issue? It smells horrible sometimes when I have the A/C on with the defroster. I have an appointment Monday and want to have all the ammo I can.

Not had a problem yet, but I remember back in 2007 a cousin bought a Mazda 3 and the AC smelled like shit, took it to the dealer and they told her it was because she was using normal gas instead of premium..

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Go figure...

Just curious, do you have a passenger with you when this happens? Kidding aside it is common for earlier cars ( very common with chrysler products) to have a rotten egg smell when the converters are bad but have not heard of it with these cars especially where as they are still new.

Happened to me once after a rain storm. Put the defrost on and wow what a smell. Hasn't happened since so I haven't thought much of it. Curious to see what they say.

I had that problem and took it in for repairs. They removed 3 rotten eggs and after that, everything was fine.

I've not smelled a car battery that went bad, but I have had sealed lead UPS batteries go bad. The best way I describe those is like burnt electronics mixed with urine.

Might have some mold and mildew build up. They should check the drain make sure it's draining. There is also some spray stuff to use to kill all the funk growing in there.

One thing that helps after it gets cleaned out, is to turn off your A/C - Def before turning the car off. And kick the fan up. Especially in high humidity. This helps to dry off the evap core before parking the car.

Defrost mode brings in outside air through the cowl.

The smell is a temporarily rich condition in the engine, that causes the catalytic converter to emit a rotten-egg odor.

Normal operation on all cars.

When airflow direction is towards the cowl, from the exhaust tailpipes, you get the smell.

Problem is mine isn't temporary. When it's below freezing it doesn't seem to happen, but today (40 degrees), it will continue to smell like hell forever....unless temporary is over 10 minutes or so, until I can't take it any more..

I just had this happen to me today. Damn what a horrible smell! Problem is the air wasn't even on. I accelerated quickly and it got even worse.
