Dumb Question but answers are welcome

I just bought a 2011 Camaro SS (have approx 300 miles on it now, had 2 when I bought it). I heard from some people that there is a break-in period for high performance sports cars but I thought that this was a thing of the past. Do I need to ease up on my Camaro or can I keep driving it like I stole it?

I was also going to put a supercharger on it, how long should I wait before I put the supercharger on?

Brian, CONGRATS on the new ride.......the only thing you DON'T want to do is for about 1000 to 1500 miles, DON'T USE THE CRUISE CONTROL.....very your speed, even on the highway.

and I would highly suggest that aver roughly 500 miles, change the engine oil.

OH AND BTW..... Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

I refuse to open the owners manual, that is violation #1 of the man code.

I read the man-ual, I also have the 2011 F-car service manuals. Knowledge=Power. Download the pdf and keep it on your computer.
Vary the RPM's you are running at for the first 1500 miles so as not to set up any harmonics in the drivetrain and add the blower when you are willing to get a tune and void your warranty. Welcome to C5 and enjoy the ride!

There's two schools of thought about the break in. One is that you should be easy on it for the first 1500 or so miles and the second is that you should drive it like you stole it. This forum used to debate this all the time, but I never bothered to see if everyone agreed on a solution or not.

As for the supercharger, it doesn't really matter from what I can tell as there's been a few people here that've thrown one on as soon as they got the car. What's more important is what kind of supporting mods are you going to be putting in? You will need strong internals for long life.
