1LE - Hard Water Spots On The Hood
I'm sure i'm not the only one to experience this. I have looked around on here already, but I have seen so many different opinions & answers that I am not quite sure which one to go with. When it comes to removing hard water spots on your hood, what is the best product & easiest way to do so? I had my car for not even a day & already had water spots on the hood & I have been searching for a way to remove them ever since.

Yes! Short story, I purchased a new Indian Motorcycle back when they first came out in 14. It was in the middle of winter. I trucked her home and put her in my basement. I have double wide 6' doors leading to the basement. She was parked and sat until spring. April arrived. I went to the basement to roll her out. I have very hard Water from an Artesian Well. The shit is like Acid. My front fender was all covered with water spots, cancer. It felt like someone had poured hot honey on a countertop and let it set up for weeks. WTF, where did this come from? I looked above. There was a copper cold water pipe running right above the fender. The Pipe didn't even look bronze copper. It was totally green\blue colored. The SOB had fur growing on it. Moisture and Condensation sweating. Living in a nest and dripping. Dripping on the fender. ""White Vinegar"". I poured some in a bowl and brushed it on with a brush. I let it sit for about five minutes. All the Cancer wiped right off with zero effort. The paint was as good as new. |

how old are teh water spots?
i put some on my car just by getting sidetracked and cleaning the wheels before drying off the body. its frikken insane how fast those basterds form. i ended up flipping out the rest of the night, could not get them off. the next day i got mcguires detail box, claybar and spray and cloth. first time using clay and its amazing few rubs and water stains were gone. even removed the spots and scratch that came from the dealer. however! later that day i went to the beach. looked at the spots again and they are back. i pretty much got depressed at that point since that would call for buffing. but! after leaving the car in the sun and heat for a few days the spots have disappeared completely now. hope that helps. |

none of these goofy products for the inside and out and I used to show room detail when I was younger. it seems like the water from my hose and auto soap (which contains like a wax type seal for the time being, they say not to use it.) works just fine and leaves it spotless. you must have really hard water in your area or maybe you should treat your wrap. I have 3m 1080 |

Once you get the water spots removed, use Adams Matte Detailer to protect the black vinyl on the hood. Adams even uses the 1LE as its example of where to use the product.
I had the entire hood covered with Xpel, along with with the rest of the front of the car and the rocker panels to avoid the water-spotting problem and rock chips. The OEM black vinyl does not prevent rock chips. |
