It's the GM model code for the Camaro and former Firebird / TransAM line.

Y body is Corvette etc.

There's a few of those running around. Pretty rare. Apparently they were built BEFORE the official start of regular production.

'F' body? Did they call this an F body for historic reason, since it isn't technically correct?

Correct.

Most cars in that "series" (just my word) are CTF cars. But not all are actually CTF vehicles. There's at least two members on here that have pre 100001 cars.

CTF cars are used by GM employees (e.g. Number 3) and some will eventually be retrofitted and sold at auction to dealers and eventually consumers.

I was just informed from GM customer service earlier today that my 2011 Camaro 2LT RS was made on 6/14 Flag Day! I got my VIN from GM Customer Service and they gave me some decoding, but alot of the info was missing. The decoding here on the posts helped me fill in the missing blanks. I'm only stumped on the digit for the engine, 'D', not sure what that means yet, I guess its the new 312 HP V-6 engine. Here is my VIN: 2G1FG1ED7B9103358.
2=Canada made eh!
G=GM
1=Chevrolet
F=F Body
G=2LT RS Manual Transmission
1=Coup (I love coups!)
E=Restraint Code
D=V-6 312HP? I'm stumped on this one for now.
7=Check Digit
B=2011
9=Oshawa Ontario Plant
103356= Serial Number
I would guess they started production of the 2011 models on Friday June 11, figuring they make 1,000 cars a day. So my Camaro would be the 356th car made on early Monday the 14th. As of today, June 15th, my Camaro is already in route on a truck to the dealer. I would also figure my car would deliver by this comming Friday or Saturday to Kentucky. I waited all this time (8 weeks), now I'm in denial that it was already made and already on a truck. I keep thinking it will be made in the next few days, strange huh?
