2012 Changes

I just purchased the 2012 LT2 RS 45th Anniversary Edition. I appreciate all the information that is on this forum...but I do have a few questions for the forum members.

Prior to purchasing my car, I didn't know that there were any mechanical changes from 2011. But my understanding now is that they made some changes to the engine and the suspension of the car. (I don't car about the cosmetic changes to the interior that were made.)

I want to do the following modifications:

Intake
Exhaust
Throttle body
Suspension

Exhaust:

My understanding is that the Heads and Exhaust Manifold are now one cast, so I won't be able to do headers etc...(Or at least there isn't anybody who has made a header system that will match up to the 2012.)

My question to the forum is this: Will the other cat-back or axle back exhaust systems that are designed for the 2010-2011 cars fit mine? I just want to know if there are any other changes before I pick a system and order it?

Intake:

I'm pretty sure that there are changes that will prohibit me from using the 2010-2011 intakes. Does anybody know which companies offer one for the 2012 V6 yet?

Throttle Body:

Does anybody know if VMAX will do the throttle body for the 2012 V6?

Suspension:

My car is going to be the guinea pig for H&R to do the mock up for the suspension kits that they will be offering for the camaro, so I have that covered.

Thanks in advance for your help.

As an owner of a 2012 the list of stuff coming out is small and the stuff available is even smaller.

As far as I know all the axle back exhausts will fit from previous years. Cat backs will have to be developed, the only ones that I know of so far developing them is Solo but its not finished yet.

CAI afaik is the only intake available and imo the best.

Throttle body are still in development.

Hope this help and I would do your own investigating on what is available for exhausts and intakes as this is based on my limited research.

Corey

I don't really see how much there is going to be able to be done with "headers" -- you'd have to take the heads off of the car, port and polish the "exhaust manifold" casting, and then maybe you could put a bigger pipe on it but I doubt you'll get enough of a gain to make it worth it.

We have a system specifically designed for the 2012+ V6 Camaros. We have been selling a ton of them recently due to high demand so they are about a week lead time but they are available on our website with FREE SHIPPING at the following link.

Bill,

Quick question - what happens when I want to add washer fluid? Do I need to unbolt the lid of the box or is it designed to be relatively easy? Being that my car is going to be a daily driver through Michigan winter months, I need to have that washer fluid reservoir accessible...

Completely understand, in fact I grew up in the Chesterfield area as well and my mother and sister still live there (21 mile road and North Ave) so I know how important that washer fluid is in the winter!! The lid literally removes in seconds. It has (3) 1/4 turn spring loaded fasteners that hold it down. Pop your hood and give each of the 3 screws a 1/4 of a turn counter clock-wise and the lid is off! If you don't mind my asking, how old are you and where at in Chesterfield are you located, there's a good chance we may know eachother, small world!

That sounds pretty easy, thanks for the reply! And a small world indeed -- I'm 25 but I've only lived in Chesterfield a couple of years. Grew up in Shelby Twp then moved with my parents over to Macomb Twp, then my wife and I bought our first house here in Chesterfield (by Sugarbush and Callens). If you've seen me around town, it'd be in the '94 Camaro in my avatar.

Pretty sure I have seen you in that car before, I am 27 so theres a good chance since we are both in the car scene in the exact same area we have some common ties somewhere. Ever go to any of the car shows in Mt. Clemens or at Barrymores? I grew up in Macomb, had a GF back in the day who lived of Sugarbush and have been all over that area. I've probably street raced you a few times haha (and beat you of course lol) Take care!
