And the nightmare continues. I put the car on ramps and there is oil leaked all over the bottom of the engine. I am sitting at my local dealer right now and they are puttin it up on the lift as we speak.

I am being told that of its something screwed up my the dealer up north than that dealer would have to pay me for further repairs.

Very pissed now.

Wow, that sucks. While you're there point out the radiator.

Ok so at this point every little drip, crunch and squeak is making me jump up and down....I need to relax.

So the techie took me to the car and showed me what he thought was going on...

First he pointed out the catch can and the intake causing a blow by. I was like ok, the PCV does get all gummed up (which is another topic of conversation) but if the catch can was involved than why is the oil on the driver side and not on the passenger side? Also, I have verified the install with multiple pictures provided by Tracy and the hoses are correct.

Then I pointed out, let say it is the catch can, why don't we go ahead and connect the hose from the manifold to the valve and try it. I also pointed out why is there oil in and underneath the stinking oil filter housing.

At that point, the guy who was talking to me in a reasonable tone suggested lets put die in there and see how that turns out. As far as he could tell the dealer in NJ had tightened everything up pretty well. I was like sure lets try the die, I have to drive to PA again this weekend and I will keep an eye on the oil level. Even now the oil lose isn't even there, the dip stick is still looking good.

The techie also pointed out that during a rebuild a lot of oil and grease can build up in the under-carriage and that can start dripping off. So anyway I let him do his thing, he put the dye in and came back to me with the oil filter housing and the oil filter and showed me the seal/ring that supposed to be sitting there. Well it's sitting half way down the threads, it's supposed to be sitting at the bottom of the threads so its close to the top of the housing cover! The techie also said that whoever tightened it, tightened to the point that he coulda easily broken or thread the cover SMH.

Now everything is back in it's place. I am gonna religiously check the dipstick and check for any drips where I park. I am also getting this car cleaned, under carriage as well.

Here's the picture of the oil cover.....

Hmmmm....that could have been bad.

Also, the catchcans should reduce blow-by by dealing with the pressure....could not contribute to it but 99% of techs have no idea how a catchcan works.

Good reason for being a little jumpy with the car. I think we're all a bit concerned with the oiling issues that have been reported recently.

I'm hoping it was just the oil filter ring/seal that caused your latest problem.

Ok after driving around all weekend to PA and back I didn't notice any oil drops nor did I see any build up of oil around the filter housing.

Going for an oil change next Saturday, because I still have the dye in there and it's been a little over 2000 miles since I got the car back.

Checked the dipstick this morning as well.....level looks good, top cross hatch and all.

Glad you got it back and it is leak-free.Can't believe they only had it screwed in halfway. I keep a close eye on my oil, and the techie at my dealership was really impressed with the catch can.

So I have been having these issues the last couple weeks on my car.

My current dealer, replaced the battery, negative battery cable and the ECU before figuring out that the morons that rebuilt my engine never grounded the motor properly.

I will be callin GM customer service in a min.

Thanks guys.

I am NOT one of those people that call companies and complain about their employees at the first sign of a mistake.

But these are the 3 issues I have had in 75 days since the rebuild at this point.

1) They put a crack in my radiator, that I fixed on my own for about $8
2) They improperly installed the oil filter on my engine.
3) The electrical issues over the last 3 weeks (Essentially bad engine grounding was leading to drained electrical power overnight and so the car wouldn't start in the morning)

I just got off the phone with GM Service, and made it clear to them who is causing the problems and the unprofessional work done by that shop. And also made sure they knew City Chevrolet was doing the excellent job of taking care of me.

I am leaving the car overnight at City Chevy, so tomorrow I can go over and see if the car starts in front of them. Even the SM recommended I do that.
