Good Lord, these paint chips are KILLING me! GM please change your ways!
so today I get home and yet once AGAIN, I have found ANOTHER paint chip on my car. this time it's on the hood from a rock that got thrown up from a 4 wheel drive in front of me on my way home from work.
this is getting out of hand. I probably have a good 8 to 10 rock chips on my car now. this is totally insane for a car that's been under my ownership for only 6 months with 4500 miles on the odometer. Jesus, it seems like a splattered mosquito can put a chip in this stupidly thin paint job that's on my car. when the heck is GM going to do something about this???

I just posted about this yesterday, and the general consensus seems to be that GM can't do anything, and that we're all just screwed. More excrement from the land of fruits and nuts. I would be curious to know if other GM models are similarly afflicted (and even more curious about Ford and Dodge).

How close are you driving to the person in front of you? Just asking and not assuming anything about your driving... I know from my personal experience (when I had my vette) when I drove more aggressively, especially in the fast lane, the front end of my car was constantly bombarded with nicks and chips.... when I got the vette repainted, I started hanging back more and refused to get too close to the car in front of me... the result, hardly any chips or nicks... so when possible, I opt to get either far ahead so their is no one in front of me, or if there is I keep my distance knowing that their tires are kicking up stuff that will chip my paint.... but that's just me...

I usually hang pretty far back when I can. the thing that makes me mad is the fact that I spent over $1K on my car by having the entire front end and the rocker panel areas on the side covered in 3M protective Clear Bra material.
Jesus, I guess I should have had the entire car covered in the stuff. this is insane!

That sounds about right I have 4 chips in the paint and about 4 in the windshield with only 2400 miles and I'm driving very carefully and very far away from other cars. I'm scared to even drive the car, infact I don't because I just don't like to find new chips. It seems like every time I take it for a ride I get a chip, but it's really for every six rides I get a new chip.

Try alternate routs with less traffic even if it means longer commute or tolls. Allot has to do with the way each individual drives like tailgating, speeding, driving close to the curbs, construction areas, etc. I've commented on this on other threads . Sometimes it's just bad luck . If it makes you feel better the real bumblebee is full of paint chips.

it's so damn annoying when I figure how well my previous car did when it came to paint chips.
it was a 2008 BMW 135i. I also had the front and rocker panels covered in 3M clear bra protection. I think I might have had 3 paint chips during the 18 months (around 16K miles) I owned the car. my Camaro has three times the amount of chips in a third of the BMW's time. this is insane...

This is horrible!!! I just noticed a few more also. We should nit have to spend more money on a 3m clear bra just to protect what should be pretty sturdy and durable from the start.
