Is $25 for 5 Months worth it for XM?

As title says... in your opinion is it worth it? I enjoyed it when it was free for the 1st 3 months and then again these past 2 weeks... but I only listen to a few stations on XM... i guess $25 isnt so much lol

I think it costs me about $20 a month for 2 cars, 1 portable deck, and XM online.

Is it worth it? Yes, because local radio SUCKS ASS!!!! Plus the last three bands to play on Liquid Metal were Pantera, Dark Angel and Slayer. That is worth the price of admission right there!

Yes. Buy they will raise prices. They were already sued for doing so against the merger agreement. But under $10 is good if you're tired of listening to commercial cr*p.

Depends on how much you like your music. For me? I'd pay more than that.

My subscription is up at the end of this month. I will probably not renew (unless they make me a killer offer) now that I have Pandora and Tune-in-Radio on my iphone.

In my opinion no. I've got a few reasons why:

1) Sound quality. I've just upgraded to Hertz $499 components (HSK 165) which are mid grade SQ type speakers and I can now easily pick out compressed music vs CD and even MP3 vs Apples better qual downloads. The clincher was when I selected higher quality on Pandora for streamed music. The Pandora stream uses much less compression, and hence sounds better. I "donated" $35 for a year of Pandora so it's higher quality and no ads. I can listen in the car, on computer or on home stereo (blu ray player has Pandora stream app built in)

2) Pandora plays better songs in my opinion and music doesn't cut out when I go under bridge. I can mashup artists to get better control, e g lady gaga, xzibit,'eminem, and accept (british style 90s heavy metal rock) plays a nice combination for me. I constantly hunted between Liquid Metal, classic rewind and a few others. Also, I can stream Pandora via Bluetooth from my iPhone to my helmets bluetooth chatterbox. XM wants to charge me more to add streaming to an iPhone app.

3) another out of control pricing scheme. The fact they heavily push reduced and multi level fees for intro periods puts them into the same category as cable TV companies. I hate cable but I dont have a choice there. Here I do.

Those are my basic reasons. I did notice I had it free last week but I was right back to Pandora, my iPod and CDs.

I have a 2010 Camaro and an older 3G iPhone. I use the USB to stream, however a friend of mine who also has a 2010 said a 4G streamed via bluetooth (BT) without any problems on his car.

To fool an older iPhone to stream to BT you go into voicemail and "select" BT for audio (should be an icon on lower right corner). However I'm on the older firmware in my Camaro and so for whatever reason my Camaro will do BT phone but not stereo music.

In the Camaro, I plug in my iPhone and dismiss the "unsupported accessory" nag. I start the iPod player and then hit the "home" button to go back to my app menu on the iPhone. I then select the Pandora app and about 10 seconds later I'm good. Downside is I'm stuck but if you have an iPhone 4 it will play in the background while you pull up other apps.

Edit: my friend said in the iPhone 4 he saw "GM music" (or similar) for pairing BT and it automatically streamed without a problem. Since this is 3rd hand I can't vouch for accuracy since he might have misunderstood or not really known what was happening not a slam on my friend but sometimes I'm skeptical of "it just worked!"

Hope that made sense and helped.

I got 6 months for $33, worth it because the channels are great, clear signal, and it introduced me to new bands and artists I would've never listened to.
