If I had $100K sitting around I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. If the VIN plate can be proven true and original to the car then there really is no price that they can slap on this car. $250K?

However, I find it funny that they mention 'Barret Jackson" in there.. not going to bash but if it weren't for them this car would probably be going for a BIN price of 30Kish.

Unless the restoration shop has a ton of original GM parts that they are just getting rid of the 28k he talking abouts is a pipe dream ( better get in form of a contract). In my option the car is to far gone, not sure you could save it even if you had a big budget..

Maybe but if at all possible I think it should go to GM's Heritage center in it's current/whatever condition. From the looks of it the car looks structurally sound and with some obvious floor, frame, and trunk patchwork along with new skins who knows..

As for restoration.. I don't think that's included. From how I read it the car is being sold 'As Is'.

You're essentially paying 75K for the body/VIN plate

This car has been discussed in quite detail on the 1st gen sites. It's more or less a heap which will require every panel. Obviously, you cannot rebody such an important car but it requires everything, including the original 6 cylinder drivetrain.

250K appraisal in it's current state? No way! I'd rather restore a COPO or a Yenko then do this car.

I would bet that it is not very sound unless its a tube frame of sum type and that means more work to try to restore. From the pics big section of floor missing (uni body car spells bad things), fiberglass front end and tubs. More then likely the cars has been back halved meaning all stock suspension and mounts are gone and most likely replaced with ladder bar or four link. Also leading me to believe the car has some type of tube frame conversion. With all the work that would need to be done to bring the car back to life you end up with at least 75% of the car being replaced (the rear quarter look suspect too). So the Roof and A an B pillars along with the vin are not replaced (everything else would have to be replaced and w/ GM parts, not likely). To the purest that spells and that's who would bid on a car of this nature. Not to mention what Hylton said try to find the original 6 and air cooled powerglide. I bet they were melted for scrap ages ago. JMO, but shared by allot of Gen 1 owners. As far as the 28K that's what he said a local resto shop gave a bid at and that seems very low. I would never trust just anyone to do a resto on this type of car and the price is "as is" and that's my whole point by saying get in a contract, because nothing seems to add up.

that thing is a huge piece of $H!t. Completely NOT original and essentially made worthless. If I saw that I would laugh at someone who paid $10 for it. I would save my money and pay for Vin #000002 that WASN'T a bunch of TRASH.

sorry I couldn't resist

Will be interesting to see what happens next w/ the car. I'm sure it will be restored to " a period correct car ", but will it end up on the auction block or in the person's collection??? Hope they didn't pay the asking price.

The car was modified in the 70's when Gen 1 Camaros, Chevelles, Nova, and such were not though of as a classic, just another car.

can't believe some idiot would take the first car built and turn it into a drag car.on top of that they didn't even take care of it.if the car was restored it would not have matching numbers.it would not be worth near as much as the seller thinks.

Sad to see the first Camaro in this shape but atleast it is still out there for purchase, I agree it is way over priced for what is left of the 001 car, if the seller is asking $75000.00 he is the smart one if he finds a D.A. to buy it
It was not that many years ago you could not giveaway a muscle car.
