I was using the Indy 500 pace car as an example of someone not knowing anything and being "mislead" as you guys are calling it.because if you know what a new GT500 is,you know that it doesn't come with a 427. If you thought a GT500 with a 427 sticker, badge whatever had a 427 in it,you probably wouldn't know anything about a 427 Cobra in the first place. Are you seeing my point? WE know what it IS,another thing for Carroll Shelby to sell(to people that already own GT500's by the way),WE aren't being mislead. The people that own GT500's and opt to have this thing on their car, aren't being mislead. Only an idiot would see that and think it has a 427 on it,like someone who would see a old V6 single exhaust wheel cover Camaro that someone stuck SS badges on it,and think it has a V8 in it. See my point? WE know it's a cynical money thing and nothing more. Is it lame,YES. Is it misleading anyone....NO.
Ford has nothing to do with this and it is not another badge job. It's for preexisting Shelby owners and nothing more. |

did you not see the title of the article....that is what I was talking about... shelby to offer 427 package... the title is misleading even to the most intellectual person, so no they are not idiots. smart people read on like I did. Hence why I got disappointed after I read the article. But of course we know that the badge doesnt define what is under the hood...and that is what pisses people off even more. |

OH MY GOD!!!
Shelby is releasing a 427 package with a 427 cubic inch engine!!????!!!???? And to compete, GM is releasing a 500 cubic inch PACE CAR!?!?!?!?! HOLY>>>>>.....!!!!! Ok...for the record, I hear 427 and think displacement. Say, "427 package" and I think engine/performace package....NOT like the Indy 500 package. I just think it's a poor choice in name selection. |

This is Shelby,he's been screwing with people for almost 50 years. He repainted his first 260 Cobra over and over to make mags think they were testing different cars and then gave it a high serial number to make out like he'd already made a bunch. Say what you will about him,the guy knows how to sell his product, good and bad. |

Yeah, that was a let down. I was reading the article thinking "What's the big deal?" Then read the part about it not being an engine package.
Really though, I think the GT500 doesn't need it. We've already seen what that engine is capable of in the GT500KR and the Super Snake. 540hp and 600hp respectably. Apparently the Super Snake can even be upped to 700hp but with that you sacrifice a warranty, which it's amazing to believe they even offer it on the 600hp super snake. The downside to either of those cars being that the price makes a huge jump from 42-44k for a 500hp version to like 70-80k for 540hp. I guess the exclusivity is something. From what I remember, Road and Track couldn't even get the Super Snake to break into the 11s because it had no grip owing to it's 275 series tires. Which are actually 10 milimeters narrower than the standard GT500's. |
