The "Camaro Wave"
I have an '82 vette and its well known that vette owners wave to one another when passing on the streets. I've driven many Camaro's, but never owned one. Do you think you'll give a wave to other Camaros? Perhaps just Gen5's? They might sell in such volume that by the end of '09 everybody and their wife is going to be driving a Camaro, and it will just look weird if you're waving to a 45 year old soccer mom every time you see one.

Having read numerous posts here on Camaro5, I suspect some gen5 Camaro owners may wave to other gen5 owners while others will probably not. But a lot of posts make me pretty sure that a lot of gen5 Camaro drivers will surely give the finger to Mustang drivers they see on the road. Camaro5 posters seem more derogatory towards Mustang owners than Mustang forum posters do towards Camaro owners.

I always wondered if there really was a common Vette practice of waving at other vette drivers. The only time I saw it was when I was stuck behind your tipical Vette driver (old man going 10 miles UNDER the speed limit, these drivers need Buicks not Vettes) in a C5 on back roads, him an a 70's vette drivers waved at each other.
I may wave, but then again...it may be hard to see a Camaro coming up on the other lane if I have tunnel vision. LOL

As a past vette owner, I used to wave at every vette I saw, but also having owned two camaro in the past, I very rarely waved at a camaro owner.
For me, there were few vettes so it was not common to run into one daily so it was fine. But I see so many camaros out there on the roads that I think I might end up injuring my arm waving at every block. (just stretching a bit ) Probably would wave at a gen5 until we get so many out there that it becomes dangerous waving so much while driving. Taz |

Kind of a neat way to look at it. I was afraid of there being alot of Camaro's in my area. I never thought of the camaraderie of other Camaro owners out there.

I ride a motorbike, I've had literally thousands of waves.
I'll most likely wave to other gen5'ers, and wave back to everyone who waves at me. |
