Jack Stands

Quick question for you fine 5th gen boys and girls...Im gonna be having my rims powder coated black this comming week, and of course the car will be with out its sneakers for a few days. Looking for the best and SAFEST way to keep the car off the ground with out having it crashing down. Unfortunatly I do not have access to any type of high-end hydraulic car lift. Which i feel would be the best way to go.

Thanks

I just put mine on jack stands yesterday in my garage. I am also getting the rims powder coated flat black to match the stripes. Hopefully she does not have to stay on the stands too long.

Yep. Jack stands. You can get a set of 4 that are rated for 3 tons at autozone for like .... $30, $35 bucks if I'm remembering correctly. Once you have them set up the car won't be going anywhere. Literally. Though do make sure you have them positioned correctly so as not to hurt the mounts.

Make sure those cheap jackstands at autozone will support the car at the height you want. Also, if you get a cheap jack at autozone, make sure it too lifts the car high enough to height you need. Otherwise you end up jacking up the car in stages using blocks under the jack and that is a pain.

I just threw the autozone ones out there as the easiest and cheapest. Like for me I have 4 jack stands that are 5 ton rated and can raise up to 18 inches, totals almost 3 feet off the ground (which I'll never need but its nice to have), and then 2 of the mechanic jacks (gaint ones that have the big handle and everything).

Also make sure you are lifting the car in the right places so you don't cause damage... there is a thread out there somewhere on this topic.

so are you asking on what type of jack stands you should use? there all pretty much the same but iv always like craftsman so i use the 3ton high lift jack stands, they should be under 25bucks for an pair.

I don't think I'd want my car 3 feet off the ground on stands... but that's just me...
